The spa and hotel used to be excellent. Used to be. Now it is just average, some of the attractions in the main pool are not working or are rusty. VERY slippery floor. The selection of saunas is good: steam, salt, aroma, usual. The garra rufa fish treatment is not worth the money, since they are using wrong size fish (too little), and there is not enough of them in the tank. Took also Indian head massage, and felt neck pain even a week after that, I am sure that something was done wrong or the lady did not finish the treatment in a right way.

Stayed in a deluxe room on the 3rd floor, the view was to a neighborhood garages. In comparision with GO Spa, the hotel has no views at all. The breakfast is in a cellar restaurant, the variety of food was much better a couple of years ago, so I guess the depression has left its mark.

I have also stayed in standard room, and there is no particular difference, deluxe room has a bathtube instead of shower.

Two nights there in may 2012. Hotel is located in the centre of the Kuressaare. Breakfast is normal and the bar near the pool is quite cheep (food is tasty). The pool isn't big, with massage flows, jacuzzi, bath with hot water. Two saunas: 40 and 70 degrees. Our room has balcony with view on church. There are safe, conditioner, hairdryer, bathrobes, but no toothbrushes and slippers. There are a lot of roses in hotel' and room design (every room has it's individual design).
We have a little problem with shower (it was a little bit estonian - needs 5 min to stop the water flow).

yes it seems that this hotel is the best in kuressaare.. but don't expect to much. service: poor, cleanliness of the hotel and rooms: medium, breakfast: poor, swimming pools: not very well in shape.
we stood in the suite, which had only small roof windows...

We had a guest apartement. It was OK - but fridge in the same room was really noisy specially for sleeping.
We had to walk to SPA and to breakfast in the morning. It was not a problem and breakfast was really good and rich.
The SPA facilities were nice but not rich - only 2 sauna and pool. There were not lot of people even on weekend because there is not simply anything to do. No fitness center
But to stay and have a dinner it was a nice place.

Having stayed in Grand Rose several times before, we lately spent our New Year's Eve (3 nights) here with 3 families (altogether 12 people).
The place has got a very modern interior (only 5 years old), but at the same time very cosy atmosphere. The old house and new house-wing are connected together with a lobby room. The lobby-room itself is an enjoyable place for late-night drink near the fireplace. There is a very nice children corner just in the corner of the lobby.

The SPA: as far as I am concerned, this is the best SPA-establishment in Estonia. It has got everything you need on spot on one level: the pool, the jacuzzy, hot bath, toddlers pool, the saunas and the SPA treatment rooms. Not to mention the cafe, where you can order hot & cold drinks, salads, soups, hot & cold snacks. All this is very close by, so you don't need to go far, but can spent all your day at the SPA grounds...

The restaurant - a'la carte dishes are very good (we especially enjoyed mushroom soup and pumpkin soup), buffet meals (which were included in our New Years Eve offer), were average, would not recommend.

The restaurant is actually the weakest spot of Grand Rose. As the hotel is in the very old-town of Kuressaare, they didn't have much room, so they built the restaurant in the cellar. So it is a cellar-atmosphere restaurant. But I repeat: the a'la carte dishes are very good!

All in all, we had a great time at Grand Rose, especially our children, who could play and run a lot - as this hotel is quite small, you can let children go and they don't disappear anywhere - everything in this hotel is close by, you don't have to walk much.

As a final comment - if to compare Grand Rose with the best SPA in Saaremaa island, Georg Ots SPA, then Georg Ots SPA wins the match - because it really is a special place with special service (& special restaurant), of which you will miss a bit here at Grand Rose! They still have to improve the service to reach the Georg Ots SPA level!

Room Tip: Family room (connected room) is bigger and more modern than the suite actually is.
