“good holiday”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 21, 2013

Recently returned from 2 weeks at Tropical Park. We were lucky enough to be upgraded for the first week to a top floor 3bed apartment. Wonderful - so much space and 360 degree views. Unfortunately we had to move to our booked 1bed apt for the second week. Still plenty of space for 2 - would be too cramped for 4 adults - only 1 bathroom etc. Cleaning by maids - excellent. Reception - excellent. We did not eat at the resort - too many good restaurants nearby. Worth mentioning the Delphino and Europa. Both excellent - good value for money. Bar staff at the resort were a bit indifferent and whilst sat at a table waiting for drinks, they appeared to ignore you and when eventually served - took about 25 minutes for 2 pina coladas!! Jose needs a special mention - tried to look after everyone. I found myself looking forward to the stretching classes, aqua aerobice, archery, petanque and a spanish class. The most I have joined in on holiday for many years. Try out the massages - wonderful. Although as in previous reviews - no air con., we found the ceiling fans sufficient at this time of year. A bonus - no mosquitoes! Would recommend it to others as long as people are aware that it is a quiet area - which suited us.

Arrived at 2100 check in was fast and efficient. The apartment was clean and comfortable and covered all our needs for a fortnights holiday. The only criticism of the apartment was that it needed air con as the fans just stirred the hot air around, maid service was very good.
We went down to the buffet on arrival and found that the selection was poor and only lukewarm at 32.20 euros for two we expected better and did not eat in the complex after that. The entertainment varied from good to poor and the bar staff with the exception of the girl we found were miserable and couldn't care less. The pool area was clean with plenty of sun beds, the top pool was cold and quite deep but the lower pool was warm and sloped from shallow to about 1.87 metres. Both pools had a childrens pool. The entertainment staff ( Jose) was good. All the staff with the exception of the male bar staff were friendly. There are quiet a number of steps so it probably would not suit people with walking difficulties. Allow around 100 euros for the safety deposit box deposit and deposits for pool towels and parasols which you keep in your room after use. There is a supermarket at the end of the lower block open until around 2200 also 3 more supermarkets in the village. The French bakery and the butchers just down the road are good value and the cakes are very good. Eating out we found the Chinese/Indian buffet good value for 8 euros,The Red Lion is also good for breakfast and an early meal, also Casa Maria is very good but expect massive portions. All in all a good holiday and we would go back

Room Tip: The even number blocks seem to get the sun later

We have also just returned from tropical park and had a good laugh at the previous comment about Jose and his megaphone. "Water aerobics anyone?" I did say to my husband that he had probably just woken everyone up in the 'quiet' area !! But what a fantastic personality. He got on with all ages, managing to keep the kids happy, the middle aged and the older ones. Great entertainer. This is the fourth time we have returned and we are never disappointed. The staff are all friendly especially the bar staff and extra thanks to Tomas, who is so professional, efficient and friendly all in one shot. The reception staff were also very helpful and sorted out all that we needed. We didn't venture out much but there are good restaurants about. The food at the hotel was fairly average to be honest but the atmosphere and the homely feeling about the place makes up for any small gripes. Good security and I felt comfortable wondering about on my own. To the ladies, you had to hire hair dryers so be sure to take your own. English TV is also available here now in every room. We are thrill always amazed about the size of the apartments and the balconies. All with good views. The bathrooms could do with extractor fans, apart from the obvious, it's so hot when sitting on the loo! We found the fans in the other rooms enough. I don't know what makes us keep coming returning to tropical park but we are already planning our next trip. If you are looking for a relaxing trip that's not boring, this is the place to go. We love it,

Have stayed here many times over the past 3 years so we must like it! Callao Salvaje is a modern quiet backwater all concrete and tarmac with no traditional parts and a new beach opened this year (black granules rather than sand). There are the usual half completed buildings and closed down empty hotels that a recession always brings but it is safe and quiet. If you want to party then this is the wrong place. The complex is a little faded upon closer inspection. AirCon would be good but that probably is only essential in July/August. The apartments are fine however the very small fridge with icebox has to work hard to keep the contents cold. Important to me but perhaps not to others as it took 2 full days for my 6 bottles of beer to cool to the right temperature. The bathrooms need an extractor fan. We always avoid UK School holidays as we prefer it quieter. The staff are, in general extremely good especially Reception, Maintenance, Lifeguard, Security, House-keeping and most cleaners. On the one occasion some three holidays ago that I was angry enough to complain the Manager (Nira) sorted the problem.
Didn't try the food this time (mixed reports from fellow guests - but apparently improving) as the loud blaring music on the stage by the bottom pool by the restaurant/bar area prevented us from having a conversation without raising our voices. The resident Animacion was an aspiring Hi -Di-Hi style character who would go down a treat in the more raucous areas of Playa Las Americas. Someone in management needs to tell him not to use a megaphone.... yes a megaphone!!! to make announcements The poor chap is trying too hard, We used the top pool area which is quiet and brilliant for "R and R" the salt water pool is warm and clean. The sunbeds are free but there are charges and for towels and parasols - reminding me of one star accomodation trying to pennypinch. The internet is coin operated at 1Euro for 10 minutes but if you go down the road then in an arcade just past Bar Paris'i there is an internet cafe a lot cheaper cheap phone calls as well. Top Tip ;- Try steak and chips at Rincon Criollo it is by the bus stop/Santander bank behind Moda Brasil on the ground level. 5euros for a bottle of wine!! it is where the locals and ex-pats eat.
All in all Tropical Park Apartments are very good but with a little more thought could be excellent.

Just back after another fantastic two weeks in Tropical park. We had a wonderful time, the staff are so helpful, thanks to Tomas at the restaurant who gave such wonderful service, we could not fault him or his staff and the food was brilliant. Thank you to the wonderful people in reception, they were great. One big thank you to Jose for all the day time entertainment he put on, tried for the first time boules and archery, what a laugh we all had. We will be back again next year to meet up with all the good friends we have made there. Could not fault anything.

Room Tip: Ask for if possible a room overlooking the pool.

Stayed here self catering for ten days early september, apartment clean comfortable with nice balcony, views of volcano to the left sea to the right, superb. Beds comfortable Bathroom clean and functional self catering kitchen had everything we could possibly need for our stay, reception staff friendly and helpful on the few occasions we needed them. Two pools in apartments the bottom pool slightly shallower with chlorine in it mostly for the kids, the top pool no chlorine and about 75% of pool 2m deep, the water in this pool is fantastic, there is a lifeguard watching both pools he appears to have the best job in tenerife. Never ate in restaraunt, pool bar food was average and while not expensive was not cheap. Apartments has massage Jacuzzi squash tennis and manicure also entertainment usually singers six nights a week, kind of what youd expect from holiday hotel but ok nonetheless, one slightly annoying thing was during the day, ALL DAY , they had music blaring out over the lower pool, which when at top pool not too bad, at lower pool really did my head in, that might be me being slightly grumpy more than a hotel fault. The wee town itself has about 12 to 15 bars or restaraunts 3 mini supermarkets a chemist a wee cafe and a couple of holiday tat shops. There is a nice friendly feel about the place and the restaurants we tried, no complaints at all, spanish restaurant just down from hotel food was good though the delphin which overlooks the stoney beach was the best by far, its slighly hidden but is perched on the edge of the cliffs great views but the food was fantastic, absolutely gigantic prawns and tremendous steaks. one hint for all the restaurants check price of the starters as we were stung by our ignorance on first night as they are often just as dear as mains. For breakfast we tried three places and the other two were absolutely fine but the Red Lion bar does a fry up where you choose exactly what you want and how many of each you want, once we found this place we never ate breakfast anywhere else, the food was simply great.
The supermarket joined onto Tropical Park has its own bakery which is superb and a deli section which we found really usefull.
As said in so many reviews not a place for the party people but great for a really relaxing holiday, enough places to spend your evening, not by any means busy or lively but just nice.
We hired a car from the airport, taxi fare between TP and airport is 35 euro each way so definately look into that if coming, bus to americas about half an hour christianos 45 mins though last one back is about half nine so dont get caught out, we ended up travelling at what seemed like rush hour so times could be quicker during the day , reception gives timetables and oh bus drivers are nutters!! only bad point is no aircon in rooms there is fans but barely even feel them, they just circulate hot air, personally not a problem for me but my fiance did find it really warm some nights. All in all had everything we needed and we have already booked up to go back at same time next year.

Room Tip: did hear the higher section of aparments are slightly bigger and more recently refurbished but the l...

I stayed at Tropical park with my wife and 10 month old daughter. We chose this place as it was a nice and quiet location. We hired a car so transportation was not a problem. Plenty of parking spaces available. The rooms are spacious and clean. But shame that no air conditioning is available, as it gets too warm inside the rooms. Ceiling fans are not sufficient. We had to keep the doors open entire night as it was very uncomfortable for my baby to sleep. Immediately after check-in, we requested for an apartment on higher floor, but the lady was rude. I insisted that the lack of fresh air will make my daughter uncomfortable. But our request was simply ignored. However, we managed to keep the room cool by leaving doors open whenever possible. The swimming pool is nice and there are sunbeds always available. Being a vegetarian, had very few choices at the restaurant, but the food was good. Also, there are couple of restaurants near-by serving good food. I would certainly recommend this place for those with family especially young kids as the area is really peaceful.
