Lovely clean rooms, quite basic but very comfortable. The staff are helpful and friendly especially Maria. It’s not luxurious but there’s definitely something very personal about it which we as a family liked. The hotel is situated in a great place too, a short walking distance to the beautiful beaches and town with all the lovely restaurants..it was a shame we caught the storm there but hey ho it was still enjoyable. We’d definitely go back again ☀️

Got home today from a lovely relaxing week in Cephalonia and we stayed at the Captains House hotel in Skala.
The whole team running the hotel and bar across the road which is closely ran alongside the hotel were lovely, really friendly and nothing was too much trouble.
Everyone from Vangelis the owner and his son Theo along with Maria,Katerina,Eleni,(who were on the breakfast service) and the girls Irini and Eleni who also serviced the rooms - Andreas,George (the barman and expert mixologist) Irini (again) and the lovely Anna who helped to make our holiday that little bit special by making us smile every night in captains bar.

We moved rooms after the first night as we preferred a room at the front so moved from room 20 to 44 on the top floor - I seem to have mislaid a ring of sentimental value during the move and the girls looked for it for me in the previous room and Theo said he would continue to look and send it on - again going that extra mile to help really makes a difference.

We do hope to return to Skala sometime in the future - hopefully next year and will be booking at captains house again.

This is a great hotel, which has an excellent location in Skala, right by the beach. The rooms are fairly basic, but they are very clean and have everything you need. The staff are excellent, without exception. They are friendly, helpful and seem happy in their work. The breakfast is simple, but well presented and plentiful. I particularly liked the greek yoghurt and honey.

Our only slight negatives is that our air con wasn't terribly efficient and our bathroom was very small, especially for my husband, but niether of these things would deter us from booking here again.

I would happily recomend this hotel to friends, especailly a couple looking for a reasonably priced, friendly hotel in an excellent central location.

Room tip: The top floor sea viw room

Our room was a comfortable size and reasonably furnished. The beds were fairly typically (Greek) firm but bearable and the shower facilities adequate with plenty of hot water. The air conditioning was probably the best we have found so far in small Greek hotels - excellent.Daily cleaning seemed very efficient.

The balcony looked out obliquely to the sea which was good because further round may have invited some late music from the hotels disco bar. But this was never a problem and we slept peacefully the whole weeks holiday.

Breakfast was unsurprisingly simple but adequate and served with a smile.
The staff generally were very helpful and friendly. There were signs that a little TLC would help; for instance to the mini gym area which was mainly not in working condition for those who wanted it.

Overall we would be quite happy to return

Room tip: Avoid the front (road facing) unless you are a late sleeper and/or use the cocktail bar

Originally I was looking for the usual hotel with a pool etc, but found this place and am so glad I booked it. It is a fairly small family run hotel and whilst there is no pool it is just steps away from the beach, where for two people you can hire beds and an umbrella for 7 euros and people work along the beach beach to fetch you whatever you would like from the bars and shops at cheap prices. We fell in love with Skala and this hotel and we were so impressed. The rooms were lovely and we could see the sea even when lying down on our bed. Breakfast was a good continental and the rooms were cleaned every single day. Everyone who worked at the hotel was friendly and couldn’t do enough for you. It is also very close to the Main Street but is in a quieter area on a road that looks straight down to the beach. It also has the fantastic Captains Bar opposite, which we found to be the best bar in the town with amazing cheap cocktails. Definitely the best cocktails and happy atmosphere and even though it was directly opposite the hotel we never once had disturbed sleep and we usually went to bed by 11/12 when the bar was still open. We found the hotel to be great value for money and had an amazing holiday. I couldn’t recommend it enough, we would definitely return. I would also recommend that you contact the hotel to book as you get a much better deal than through any booking site. Thank you to everyone at the hotel and also captains bar for a great, memorable holiday.
