Had a family holiday here last year and have fallen in love with Greece all over again!
The views are fantastic and the rooms well equiped and of a good size.
Skala is a nice sea side town, but there are some gorgeous beaches and coves to explore. We hired a boat for 70 euro's for the day and explored the coastline and even managed to find a secluded bay all of our own.
Back to the hotel, it is well run and the evening entertainment is ok if all you are looking for is a relaxing holiday. my 15 year old gave us 6.5, so thumbs up all round

Stayed with my husband and two daughters for two weeks during Aug 2012 . Wonderful family run hotel and friendly staff, very clean 3 nice pools plenty of sunbeds even in peak season. We stayed in a suite overlooking the restaurant area with sea veiws was quiet and peaceful, slept soundly for the whole trip which was unusual as I generally sleep poorly. Breakfast basic but ample save yourself for my favourite resturant in Skala ; the Old Village, fantastic food and friendly service, try to sit in the garden at the back. Also enjoyed Old times short walk from hotel views over the sea heavenly and Mikelatos family resturant. Hotel resturant was also very good loved the lamb kleftiko and beef stifado. Anna looked after us well in the snack bar serving delicious chicken souvlakis and greek salads. Give her a big smile and a tip, she works really hard ,and she'll look after you the whole holiday. Do explore the island as it is beautiful and the north of the island rivals the amalfi coast in Italy for the dramatic cliff top views and scenery. We loved Fiscardo a pretty town with lovely waterfront cafes great views over to Ithica {great day trip} also dont miss Assos and Myrtos beach and our favourite antisamos beach a mile on a winding road from Sami white pebbles and crystal clear blue sea. Must give a mention to sugar& lemon in skala who indulged our sugar cravings especially my daughters on several occasions with the biggest waffles (with chocolate) and yummy cocktails for us. I also loved the homemade cakes with cinnamon and nuts. Please look after my Sis and family San G, who travel out on the 9th May enjoy this little island of paradise we will be back some day .

Fantastic Hotel, Friendly ,clean, mini bus to the beach and even the main village in the evening you need to book a ticket, but the walk in the evening is very nice as the sun starts to set (early September).
Taxi back after a few cocktails in the Captains table.
The food at the hotel is also very good if after sleeping on a sunbed all day you are just to chilled to go into town.
Rooms are super clean and the ladies that do this always say hello and are happy in their work.
The pools are many and well laid out.
The ladies in the reception are very helpful

Stayed at this hotel four times now and looking forward to going back this year. The staff there are all so helpful and friendly and the nice thing is they do genuinely remember you. Most people that you meet have been there before and have really nice stories to tell about the hotel and the area.
My wife and I have eaten in many places around the island but we still say the food at the hotel is of the best there is. The hotel has three pools so you should always find a place to sit and relax under the palm trees. There is an outside bar not too far from the pool area and there is also a cafe to snatch a bite to eat at lunch time.
The hotel runs a shuttle service from the hotel to the town of Skala but it can be walked in thirty mins and the scenery is lovely.
I have been to other Greek islands but I fell in love with Kefalonia and all its people and I can't wait to go back.
Looking forward to seeing all you guys at San Giorgio soon.

Stayed at the San Giorgio late September 2012. I haven't been to Greece for many years and fell in love with it all over again! Such a pretty island, with such friendly people everywhere we went. Was surprised at how modern most hotels/restaurants were with furniture and fittings, without losing any charm. We hired a car for 5 out of our 7 days there and everywhere was so easy to get to. Our car hire was from "Greekstones" - the office in the centre of Skala. They were very friendly and helpful and we felt reasonable, so would recommend them! Did my homework of where I wanted to go and founded a couple of added bonuses en route also!

Would recommend the delicious chicken pitta kebabs from The Katelios Taverna, along the far end of the beach at Katelios - an old fashioned Greek Taverna - 2.50 euros for a scrummy kebab (not like an English one!) - wonderful, swilled down with a beer, watching the waves come ashore!

The Remetza cafe, Poros is a hidden delight! If you look out to sea from the harbour, it is on your left and if you walk through, you come to some hidden seating within the rocks on the waters edge - it is idyllic and the food is delicious. The 10 minute journey from Skala to Poros is so picturesque too.

Sami is very pretty - obviously famous for Captain Corelli's Mandolin. If you go, don't miss out on Antisamos Beach (about 10 mins from Sami) - the water is so crystal clear and the views breathtaking. The beach bar/restaurant is very modern and the food looked amazing. We didn't eat here, as we had already done so in Sami, but if we had known, we would have saved it for Antisamos. The sunbeds here are free, which was a pleasant surprise in this day and age.

Spent an afternoon at Costa, Costa Beach, Makris Gialos, just on the edge of Lassi. A nice beach with beautiful sunbeds and restaurant again - all very modern and high class!

Spent a morning in the capital, Argostoli with nice, modern shops. Loved seeing a Loggerhead Turtle in the harbour, bless him! Apparently there are 4 that live around there, so as long as you walk past the small fishing boats, you should at least see 1, as they tend to hang around there, as they get fed from the fishermen!

Myrtos Beach - breathtaking view from above and we ended up on the road down there by accident, with all 26 or so hairpin bends!! It wasn't as bad as we had anticipated, so glad we had the experience, but I can say that, as it wasn't me driving!!!

We loved Assos, very pretty and again, lovely bars/restaurants to while away a couple of hours, drinking in the views and atmosphere. Too much effort to walk up to the fortress!

Fiskardo - again, very pretty and atmospheric. Dont' miss Emblisi Beach about 2 mins outside Fiskardo - again, such a pretty beach with crystal clear water - blissful! No restaurant though, only a hut to buy drinks/ice creams.

We didn't actually spend much time at the San Giorgio, but loved it! The thing we loved the most was the view from our balcony over the sea with Skala to the right of us. We loved the smell of pine and the regular tinckling of bells from the mountain goats and cows! It was so atmospheric! It is a shame that the courtesy bus doesn't run more frequently, especially of an evening. We did spend at least 5 euros each way into town, as we wanted to have a drink at night, so wouldn't drive. This was the only downside of a perfect holiday. We liked being out of the town for the peace, but if they lay on a courtesy bus, it would have been nice to have had easier access to it! The hills and the steps may be a problem to alot of people, but we didn't mind, as it was the views we wanted! The pools are lovely and well maintained. We ate in the restaurant once and had a lovely meal. The poolside bar food is good too. Our bed wasn't very comfortable, which was the only downside of an otherwise, basic, clean and pleasant, private room.

Our evenings began with cocktails at the Captain's Bar in centre of Skala, very quirky, very welcoming, friendly staff and owners and great, fun, buzzing music - a must go to place!

My favourite place to eat was the 5* hotel, Regina Dell Acqua Hotel. We ate outside, around the poolside, it was bliss. The food was beautiful, unfortunately, we found the service was VERY poor, though they were very friendly, but the location and food quality made up for it. Even though it is 5*, the prices are only slightly, if at all, higher than in the town - so do go!!!

On the whole, we found everywhere on the island very good value and very good quality. Would definitely go back to Kefalonia one day, to continue the sight seeing we couldn't fit in! Would also recommend the San Giorgio, as long as you don't mind alot of steps and steep hills and being out of town.

If you have any questions, I am happy to answer them!

Stayed her with my daughters in Sept/Oct 2012, it was our first time visiting Kefalonia and I hadn't been to Greece or the Greek islands for years. Lovely scenery, great places to eat and friendly staff everywhere that we went. The hotel is up a hill however a bus runs to the centre of Skala or if you can manage it the walk is about 30 mins. 3 of us shared a hotel room on B & B basis and we had plently of space and it was spotlessly clean. The staff are friendly and most have been there for years, in fact a lot of people that you meet have been there several times before. We had fantastic weather and walked to the little beach opposite the hotel. Views from the balcony where you have breakfast are beautiful. 3 pools and plenty of room/sunbeds. This is a great place to stay in Kefalonia.

Having been around a lot of greek islands we gave skala in kefalonia a try. we stayed at the san giorgio on b/b , breakfast was basic but ok, rooms first class maid service 10/10 fabulous views to die for but the climb from the beach to the hotel is a bit much when you are in your late 60s. the hotel runs a free shuttle bus into skala but you can walk it about 45 mins. a.la carte menu in the hotel first class give the kefalonia meat pie a try very filling.all in all a very good holiday in may 2012.
