The hotel was stunning, staff were great, everywhere was spotless, food was good

Just one thing that grated, the wine waiter always looked bitterly disappointed when we failed to order any wine at dinner. Always polite, but when we observed him serving couples who ordered wine, looked much happier. We do not drink much, had a beer each night to avoid the disappointing look.

A long transfer from the airport, but worth it

Room Tip: All the rooms the same and set well back from the main hotel, so would think all would be nice and q...

Just came back from a week here - and there are many good points as reviewers have said. The best aspects include the friendliness of the staff, especially Ada who served at breakfast and round the pool - always smiling and helpful. Victoria who served at evening meal was also delightful. The room was spotless (credit to the cleaners) and the bed extremely comfortable. Like many guests our view was of the mountainside - but this means all guests benefit from the beautiful sea view afforded by the bar, restaurant and pool (seems fairer than just giving some bedrooms this view). We liked the mountain - sometimes goats clambering down - quiet and natural. As other guests have noted, the sun beds are not the most comfortable and there is no privacy to be had by the pool. You also need to choose your bed carefully if you want shade as there is no room to move your bed under the shade of your parasol in the morning (it will shade the bed behind you)! The pool itself is lovely and the view out to sea amazing.
If you love Greek food (as we do) this is not the place to eat - but you can find some healthy food at breakfast (yoghurt, dried apricots, muesli), and one or two fresh fruit choices. There was always lovely fresh wholemeal bread too. At dinner, there were always the ingredients to make up your own Greek salad if you did not want (as we did not) the cooked choices, which apart from the delicious pies (cheese and the local meat pie speciality), were mediocre. Right next door is a wonderful bakery serving delicious baklava at 2€ a large serving so we went there for dessert as the mousse-like concoctions served at the hotel were not to our taste.
Skala is not the best resort and it is definitely worth getting out and about to see the island and perhaps take a boat trip to Ithaka. There are lots of lovely fishing villages and beaches in easy reach - by car hire, boat trip or tour.
The sea is wonderful for swimming and snorkelling but the beach opposite the hotel has no sun beds or parasols - it's very small and pebbly but actually really pleasant to swim from. There are other beaches nearby where you can hire beds for about 5€ a day if you want to stay by the beach. We were happy to have beds by the pool and just wander over the road to the beach to swim.
We did go on the Thomson Premier Tour of the island - a long but fabulous day with stops at the underground lake, swimming off a boat and various village stops - our tour guide, Vicky, was outstanding in terms of informing us about the rather tragic history of Kefalonia. This tour was expensive but good value for money in terms of what was included (entry fares and a lunchtime meal of good quality).
A final word: the gym and spa are really pleasant facilities (as a regular gym goer this was appreciated), the air con in the room is the quietest I have ever come across, take insect repellent for evenings, don't expect too much from the food (or drinks) - but it is all really ok and we had a perfectly relaxing week here made extra pleasant by the helpful, friendly staff.

Just returned from a week's holiday (3rd to 10th July) at TessoroBlu.

We had a really realxing time as the hotel was very quiet even though it was nearly full. The rooms were set back from the main building which meant that nights were nice and quiet if that's what you like, which we do. This did mean a shortish walk back up to the rooms, this didn't bother us and we soon got used to it, if you have mobility problems this may not be for you. The rooms however were spotless, modern and spacious with a good sized balcony although they were too hot to sit on most of the time!!, not complaining about that. The pool is probably the nicest we've had, large, deep a bit cold maybe but this was a positive as it was so hot... There was a whirlpool too but we didn't use this much as it was quite hot and didn't really want hot water as we needed to cool down rather than warm up. The reception area was very modern and the staff were very attentive and helpful. The restaurant was by the pool, this was for evening meals and breakfast, the food was buffet style, the choices were limited although we could always find something to eat, salads were nice, and different hot choices every night. Would of been nice if the chef or assistant chef could of been out carving something or cooking something extra, this could be easily integrated by the management and would be a lovely touch, most hotels we've been to previously have had this option but food was generally a good standard. Breakfast was similar, always plenty there the usual bits and bobs, think there could be some small changes that would improve things simply someone cooking eggs to order and omelettes, pancakes etc. The fruit could have been more adventurous too, but all in all food was of a good standard. Coffee was good. The staff couldn't do enough for you and this was the general theme throughout the hotel. The pool staff were excellent, our favourite was Ada, but all staff were a credit to the hotel.

The greek night was wonderful with greek food and dancing from the waiters, really lovely touch, it was our last night and made it a good finish to our holiday. Dane resident singer worked very hard to entertain guests, he was poorly when we arrived but he still gave 100%, as he did every night. Not much in the way of entertainment, we don't want loads of entertainment, so this suited us just fine. Charlotte was employed by the hotel to arrange little entertainment/activities, wine tasting, cocktail making etc, she was English and very attentive too.

Skala was 15 minute walk away, good road and well worth a visit. There were lots of tavernas and bars too, shops were not up to much but ok for little trinkets etc.

There is a small bar to the left, 2 minute walk, nice toasties, which make a good sun break in the afternoon. There is also a cake shop selling amazing cakes and biscuits, yum!

We did a boat trip with captain vangellis, to Fiscardo, well worth doing, Fiscardo is lovely and we also did the caves at Sami, this was a interesting, although you are on and off the boat in a flash. We also stopped off for a couple of swims, much appreciated as it was very warm.

All in all we had a lovely week, very relaxing from the off, the staff work tirelessly to make sure you have everything you want to have a lovely holiday. I wouldn't hesitate to go back if we did repeats but can honestly say if you like a peaceful low key location and hotel with good food and great staff and a clean hotel this is a good base to see wonderful Kefalonia from.

Stayed at the Tesoro June 19th for two weeks with my wife, after careful selection reading reviews we were sure we were going to be looked after and we were not disappointed . What a great hotel from the checking in the staff make you feel so at home and feel at ease ,absolutely nothing is too much trouble for them and any request is seen to with a smile and "its no problem". In fact the staff are a big plus for this hotel ,we especially got on well with "young " Kostas who like us enjoyed a bit of banter but was superb at his job but it is a bit unfair not to say all the staff were great . Our room ,325,was at the back of the hotel ,it was a large room with a great bathroom and plenty of storage ,a free safe and mini bar ,the bed was possibly the best hotel bed we have slept in with firm pillows ,all the rooms are in blocks very modern with clean lines and mostly on the level, if you have a mobility problem a golf buggy taxi is on hand to whisk you around. The food was excellent and you could almost every time sit outside looking over the great view of the sea ,the chef was always on hand to answer any queries but try his home made soup ,we never thought soup could taste so good . All the other dishes we found to be a very high standard with enough choices to satisfy our needs . Diner was served until 10.30 pm so no one was rushed or in a rush ,the evening entertainment was mainly the resident singer "Dane" who kept everyone happy and was not a "in your face" singer he was just good at his job. The pool was lovely with plenty of sunbeds and giant umbrellas ,we are beach people so we strolled along the road to the beach ,the sunbeds and parasols were 5 euros ,the beach is a mix of coarse sand and shingle but very clean and there are several taverns adjacent for lunch or a drink .
Back to the hotel ,we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would not hesitate to recommend The Tesoro Blu ,the management and staff seemed to have thought everything that a guest would need they work very hard and are lovely people and I wish them every success in the future ,for me as an experienced traveller ,The Tesoro Blue is a benchmark that others have to reach and I know that the TB is not resting on its laurels ,they have improvements they want to make to make even better.

Room Tip: Quieter rooms at the back of the hotel.

First impressions of the hotel were good, modern and clean. Our room was spacious and the air conditioning was excellent (and needed!). The staff are the real asset to this hotel... courteous, helpful, friendly and all have a sense of humor!!! The food is good - we did eat out on one occasion as when eating in the same restaurant for seven nights the food does become a little repetitive, but everything is cooked well with a good variety. The highlight of the hotel has to be the infinity pool - clean, great temperature and above all empty most of the time!!! This is mainly due to the hotel being a couples only hotel so no kids - it did seem a little strange at first but we soon adjusted to no noise!!! For a great day out, take a boat trip to Fiskardo with Captain Vangeli... beautiful scenery, dolphins, turtles and fantastic swimming. Kefalonia is a beautiful island so hiring a car for a few days is also a must. Great holiday, great experience and we will return.

Room Tip: Rooms nearer to the hotel do not have to contend with a steep incline

Second year in a row here, which is a first as we never go to the same place twice ! Tesoro blu is fab! Never had such a relaxing holiday. The staff are so attentive and friendly, nothing is too much trouble, they are always there with a friendly chat even though they must be exhausted as they all work so hard, we really appreciate you all. The owners are great too always someone on hand, again always with a friendly chat. Right on to what u need to know; pool towels are provided, so don't need to bring your own. Sunbeds are plentiful, there is no getting up at stupid I clock to reserve your bed. Sadly most of the sun beds need attention now, and are not very comfy! Free safe in room. Drink prices on par with other bars, wish the happy hour was at a later time though! Men do not have to wear long trousers at evening meal, smart shorts, polo shirt, etc is fine. The rooms are kept spotless, the walk to your room is only a couple mins and not a bad stroll. The food is adequate. Pool fab. All in all, if you're coming here, enjoy, you will go home refreshed!

After two weeks on holiday we are usually ready to go home, but this wasn't the case at the Tesoro Blu, neither of us wanted to leave. There were so many positive points about this hotel, that I do not think I will be able to cover them all but will give it a go.

The hotel is run and owned by a family and they couldn't be more accommodating. they take an active role in running the hotel and are present in the hotel on a daily basis. Angela in particular is very friendly and always ready to help if needed.

The staff really make this hotel stand out, there was a very homely feel and all the staff generally seemed happy to be there. Just some special mentions: Spiros worked in the bar during the day and was always welcoming and up for a chat. Miro and Martin were the bar staff in the evening, and both were great characters and always up for a laugh. Ada and Yuli the two lovely ladies who were around at breakfast and lunch times in the bar area, who were both very pleasant and smiley. Generally all staff were fantastic, and couldn't do enough for you. Ben (holiday rep) was also very helpful and around to give advice if needed.

The hotel itself had a very modern appearance and every area of the hotel was clean and tidy and well presented. We was in room 523 which was right at the back of the hotel, yes it was about 5 mins walk to the reception but perfect for us as it was nice and peaceful and our balcony looked over the hotel and the sea in the background, so generally the location suited us.
On arrival in our room we received a bowel of fruit as it was our honeymoon with a little welcome card, which was a very nice touch. The room itself was spacious and modern and had all the required amenities such as kettle, hair dryer, iron and a full length mirror. We had a bath and shower in our room and the shower maintained it's water temp and was nice and powerful. The room was cleaned every day to a very high standard, it was lovely to come back to a clean tidy room. The towels were changed everyday and bed linen was also changed regularly.
The pool area was lovely with the infinity pool, and again always kept clean and tidy. There were plenty of sun loungers and pool towels were provided. Alexandra was the lady who worked by the pool, and she always had a smile on her face and kept everyone topped up with drinks and snacks if required.
The town of skala is approx 15 mins walk, where there is a selection of tavernas, bars and shops. The food in the hotel was nice and was always being replenished , but because we was there for two weeks we did try out some of the nearby tavernas for a change of scenary and variety.
In the evenings we would often walk into Skala and have a drink in one of the bars, can really recommend Captains Bar where my husband and I enjoyed some lovely cocktails. We would end most evenings in the hotel bar, enjoying Danes voice and entertainment. Usually Dane would have both guests and staff up dancing, even my husband was up dancing on a number of occasions which doesn't happen very often.
There are some really lovely beaches nearby, we spend a number of days on Skala beach and the sea is crystal clear, would recommend beach shoes. We also went to Mounda beach which is a lovely sandy beach and again clear water.
Just to reliterate this hotel is fantastic, and myself and my husband are already talking about going back next year. So would just like to say a big thank you to the owners, bar staff, entertainment staff, cleaners, waiters/waitresses and reception staff you guys do a fantastic job and really make this hotel stand out. Thanks for making our honeymoon so special.
