Looks aren't everything and you could easily walk past Gourgouris, it doesn't shout out and the menu is simple. It's only got about forty covers and the decor is at best rustic, but don't let it put you off. Indeed on the several times whilst eating we sat and watched people peruse the menu then walk away and I wanted to call them back.
On our first stint, holidaying 3 years ago, we'd been impressed that every time we walked past the place was packed, so dipped our toe in and returned several times. But this was our second visit, this time with friends, and after bigging up the meze the thought that it wouldn't live up to our hype niggled. I needn't have worried.
However it the second visit of the holiday when we ordered the daily special that meant the place has gone from good to excellent. We went Sunday so it was rabbit, slow cooked in a simple sauce, the only downside being it was our second Sunday of the fortnight so we could only sample once.
Returned for the meatballs and again for the stifado, you work out the nights, each time starting with the dips and olives. Even took advantage of the delivery service, sadly don't think they can do Huddersfield so can't keep the fix going.
