My husband and I stayed at this hotel initially from the 10th to 17th October 2012, but booked out on the 13th, due to suffering 2 days of diarrhoea, due to the lukewarm food. The food was tasteless, mushy and unpalateable. We ended up shopping in the local supermarket, even though we had paid half board. My husband refused to eat breakfast, but I sampled a basic breakfast of ham, cheese, fruit and cake with warm coffee in a jug.All facilities were closed at the hotel and the pool was drained and covered in green algae. In the three days we were there not once were the sheets or towels changed or bin emptied.I have to say that this was probably due to the fact that they had no staff, apart from 2 receptionists. Sabrina was everywhere from reception to serving drinks and meals. We cannot thank her enough for her help in relocating us to another hotel in Florence. To add insult to injury, as we were leaving the hotel we discovered that our rental car had been keyed, which we reported to the hotel. We were so disappointed.

We have holidayed at this hotel for over 10 years and have seen this hotel get better and better every year. The staff are the most helpful and friendly people you will find, nothing is too much for these guys. The rooms especially the suites are superb with large clean comfortable rooms with good quality furnishings. The restaurant s a beautiful large space and serves traditional Italian food cooked to a high standard. A good quality wine list compliments the food and completes the meal.

You do need a car here as the area needs to be explored!

We cannot recommend this hotel enough. Give it. Try you won,t be disappointed.

Room Tip: Use the suites they are amazing. You must try the olive al ascolana they are sublime!!

Ok. My girlfriend and I stayed here first week in September 2012. Our flight with Ryan air to Pescara left us with a perplexing 110 euro taxi fare for the 60 mile transfer to the hotel, late on the Sunday night. Late or early flights means no public transport! What we saved flying budget to a regional airport, was lost on taxis as we had to use the same form of transport to get back to the airport! So 220 euros lighter through taxis! We discovered that better planning with flights would have enabled us to use the heavily subsidised rail network from Pescara directly to San Benedetto Del Tronto, the coastal town a few miles from the hotel at a cost of 4.50 euros each (one-way). Ouch  Taxis are VERY expensive. We found ourselves at the mercy of taxis one afternoon as the bus service had a two and a half hour gap in its schedule. So we used a taxi at a cost of 25 euros for a five mile journey! The bus system is odd. You can't just get on a bus and pay. You have to go to a newsagents and buy a pre-paid ticket(s), which is sometimes impossible if you’re hoping to catch a bus halfway up a mountain or more generally, an inconvenience. So we hired a moped for four days which was brilliant!! Absolutely recommend this....and we used Simonelli Motos in the heart of San Benedetto. Staff were really friendly, very, very helpful and even opened up specially Sunday lunchtime so we could keep the bike until our last day!!

The hotel. Greeted late Sunday night by receptionist/waitress/pool cleaner/ bar staff Sabrina!! She wore many hats! Sabrina spoke excellent English and made our stay very good. She couldn’t do enough to help and assisted with bus timetables, locating a bike hire shop etc etc. In fact all the staff wore ready smiles and were very helpful. Even though we arrived at around 11pm we were offered a proper three course dinner which, having been treated to Ryan Air’s ‘cuisine’ much earlier in the day, we gratefully accepted!!

Room was adequate in size with good en suite facilities, although the double bed was in fact two single mattresses side by side, but with one about two inches thicker than the other!! They also tended to move apart during the night! Room had a television, but all the channels were in Italian, so difficult to enjoy.

Restaurant. Breakfast was continental buffet. This consisted of some rather tasteless cereals, choice of cake and stale bread with jams or marmalade. Fruit juice was also available, but always tasted overly diluted. Tea and coffee available, but in the form of a jug of hot water on a table and a do-it-yourself system. The hot water was always tepid, so hot drinks were not to be enjoyed. Evening meals were three courses, but each course of minimal quantity. Main dish one night was a small omellete with no filling and a couple of salad leaves. Another night it was a slice of beef with a gravy sauce....no veg or additions!! However, what you did get was tasty!

Pool. Abbadetta enjoys a fantastic hill top position and the pool and terraces make the most of the views. However.....The pool bottom and sides were covered in green algae growth.....not attractive, and my first words about it were ‘I will NOT be swimming in that this week’. The pool is a good size and it was a shame it hadn’t been maintained properly. We spent most days at the beach as a result.

Now.....If I’ve put you off listen up. I met the hotel owner on our last day when he arrived to collect us from Benedetto del Tronto after we’d returned our moped and discovered there were no buses on a Sunday. We rang the hotel for Sabrinas advice! Kindly, and without charge, he came out to pick us up. En route we chatted and it turns out he was Italian, but had lived in London for 28 years before buying the hotel. He explained that refurbishment of the pool area and hotel was commencing in September 2012. I can only say that, when done, the Abbadetta Hotel will be a great place to stay. Great position, friendly staff, competent operation. We’d go back. And that’s a fact!

Found the staff very cheery and approachable. Food at dinner time was excellent and something different every night. Only downside really was without a car you are talking an hour or so walk to the beach.

Myself, my partner and our 4 year old son stayed here in July, the staff in the hotel were always friendly, helpful and always really patient with my son. This isn't a hotel for kids however as there isn't any entertainment and the pool is quite deep. We didn't mind though as we went along to the beach most days. Hotel is ideal for couples. At dinner there was a set menu each night but we were never disappointed, the food was excellent and we actually preferred this as it meant we tried some food we perhaps wouldn't have picked for ourselves normally.
I would recommend hiring a car with a sat nav as its around a 10min drive to the beach and it's easy to get lost on the roads! Also an Italian phrase book was our bible for the week as not alot of people can speak English in the area (although in the hotel they all speak English perfectly)
The rooms were quite dated but again we didn't spend too much time in the room so we didn't mind. The balcony is quite small and has basic white plastic table and chairs but the amazing views more than make up for this!

Overall the value for money was excellet and we thoroughly enjoyed our holiday! Thanks very much abbadetta!
