We stayed here for a week, during the off season in May. Helpful staff, and you're left pretty much to your own devices. It's clean and the bungalows spacious. Our room was cleaned every other day or so.
Great that it's self catered, but the nearest decent food shops are in the main town, a 20 minute trike ride away. Good food alternatives are The Food Haus across the street (cheap and friendly) or the beach front restaurant at The Coral Cay resort, a few minutes away.
The Bruce has a decent little pool, which we used a lot as the sea in front of the resort is very shallow and the beach itself, covered in seaweed. The Bruce did have wooden loungers on the seafront, which meant you could sunbathe quite happily, and hang around to watch incredible sunsets. Overall, a clean, peaceful place to stay.

A small quiet service friendly resort. Nice location directly to the beach.

We stayed at The Bruce after a particularly bad experience at the Coral Cay Resort. The bungalow was spotless and was great value for money. Decent location on the beach with good views of the sunset. The staff were friendly and the restaurant, Sylvias, was very good. All in all a very good stay.

Room Tip: Book ahead as there's limited bungalows.

We stayed at The Bruce in San Juan, Siquijor in February 2012. The bungalow was comfortable and extremely clean, right on the beach with a lovely view. The room was cleaned regularly and had a kitchen, fridge and fan. There is a shop outside for drinks, crisps etc and The Sylvia (same owner) is a short distance away with excellent food (best we had in the phillipines), wifi and lovely space to work in - also where they serve food (good wifi ie many places in phillipines have unreliable wifi). The Sylvia also has accommodation with a nice garden setting. After speaking to the staff, we found out they are building more bungalows and since the last review on here, seems a lot has changed as the owner increases the size and is putting more facilities in. There is a great pool with a waterfall and when you walk along the beach, there are other cafe restaurants if you want to have a change from eating at The Sylvia. Also all the staff are very helpful and friendly.

This very small resort has only a few rooms available, but if you are looking for a nice quiet place to stay this is for you. It's located a few kilometers West of San Jose, close to the Coral Cay Dive resort. They also have a nice swimming pool which is a big plus. Most of the units were rented out long term, but when we arrived there was one unit available, It had a big room with one single bed and one double bed, a kitchenette with stove, sink, refrigerator and a water dispenser. No restaurant on the premises, but there's one across the street or just a short walk down the beach to the Coral Cay Dive Resort.
