We stayed at this hotel as part of a three-day organized trip with private guide and driver to the Chengyang/Longsheng area. The hotel is apparently oriented towards Chinese customers exclusively. A stay in this hotel is like a time-travel into the 1970s in a socialist East-European country. Our room was lighted by a cold fluorescent tube, there was no carpet but very cold tiles on the floor, and the bathroom was full of moldy spots. The bulbs in both(!) bedside lamps were burned out and had to be replaced by the hotel staff.
The public areas (hallways, lobby, restaurants) were dark and spooky. Although no-one at the reception spoke any English, they were quite helpful when we asked for a hair dryer and a couple of other things with the help of our "Point-It" book (having this book with us in China was a good idea).
Our guide had ordered a "Western breakfast" for us, which was apparently a completely unknown concept to the hotel: the breakfast consisted of some kind of fried egg, tomato slices with heaps of sugar(!), some sort of strange tasting coffee served in glasses, half a loaf of heated, spongy white bread, and Chinese tea. We probably should have ordered Chinese breakfast instead, as the Chinese dinner we had at the hotel the night before was really good.
