Hotel Villa Nirvana
Reviewed October 18, 2010

Villa Nirvana is an excellent place to stay if you're looking off the beaten path of Acapulco. The hotel is right on the beach. Some rooms have views of the oceans, but you can hear the waves crash from all over the hotel site. There is a nice little restaurant area for breakfast that is cheap. They also have a nice drink system where you can take a drink and just write it on your tab. We loved this hotel and will definitely return again!

It is a family and traveler friendly hotel in beautiful Pie de la Cuesta. Rooms are clean and nice, the bathroom is large. Nothing fancy here but it is sufficient. Offers it own place on the beach with hammocks and chairs. Firendly staff. Highly recommended

Earlier reports have just about covered everything – lovely grounds, large, clean rooms, pool, hammocks and right on the beach. Plenty of places to eat but we went back several times to the Marinero which is right next door.
We did a trip on the lagoon – Daniel and Pamela (excellent hosts)said that earlier guests had been marooned at the restaurant on the island for longer than they wanted so we opted to do a private tour. 200 pesos each for more than 2 hours watching the birds, local fishermen, etc.
We’d arrived from Acapulco bus station by taxi (130 pesos) but took the local bus back into Acapulco, 5 pesos
We paid extra to get a room with ocean view, terrace and hammock – at 800 pesos, it’s quite expensive for Mexico but as part of the overall chilling experience, it’s worth it.

My friends and I were quite pleased that we stayed at Hotel Nirvana.

The room: We stayed in a room overlooking the ocean and it was fabulous. There was a hammock on the balcony whilch I opted to sleep on in lieu of the bed in the room. The rooms were quite clean. Make sure you reserve the ocean view rooms. They are more expensive but well worth the extra money. The rooms at the back of the hotel can get hot at night.

The food and drinks: We found the food delicious; better than the local restaurants. The drinks were also by far the best we had on our trip. There are no particular times for ordering food. You just find an emp^loyee and tell them you would like something to eat and the they will get the person who cooks (same with the mix drinks). For all other drinks there is a fridge with pop, beer, and water that uses the honour system where you take a drink and mark it on your room paper. This was convenient when we were up late enjoying the viwn from our balcony.

Staff: Very good! Though the staff spoke very little English they always put in effort to figure out what we wanted. The owners, who are American, were very accomodating and laid back. They have been running the hotel for 12 years and are very savvy regarding the local area. Even the two hotel dogs won our hearts.

Location: Pie de la Cuesta does not have all the trafiic that Acapulco has. There were few people on the beach making it quite nice and relaxing. Unlike Acapulco which is a bay, Pie de la Cuesta is directly on the ocean so the waves were too strong for swimming past our hips. However, when the waves came in they would go over our heads. It was also impressive to sit and watch the waves which were 10 + feet at times. The locals werequite nice and we felt safe in the community. The last time I visited Acapulco several years ago I stayed at a resort in Acapulco. I enjoyed Hotel Nirvana and Pie de la Cuesta much more.

There was wireless internet service at the hotel but it was not operational while we were there. Because this was a pre-conference leg of our trip we needed access. Daniel, the owner, allowed us to use his personal computer to send emails which was quite accomodating.

All in all I will defintely return to Hotel Nirvana next time I return to Pie de la Cuesta. If you are looking for a place to relax, forget about your regular life, and enjoy the beach Hotel Nirvana is the place to do it.

I traveled from Acapulco by bus in February 2010 to find a couple of places to stay in Pie de la Cuesta. Per Lonely Planet, I had already narrowed my choices for a a five day stay. I was not disappointed at all when I walked down the corridor toward the beach to find Villa Nirvana. It is a very clean, comfortable hotel. The staff is excellent - they really cater to the needs of the customers.

Even though the restaurant does not have an extensive menu, it was very good - particularly breakfast. American owners, Daniel and Pamela are very accommodating and overall great hosts. I highly recommend this hotel to those looking for comfort at a low cost.

If you want 5 star luxury, go to Acapulco. If you are looking for a tranquila place to stay on a quiet beach, then take the 20 minute taxi to Pie and stay here. No AC; fan in bedroom; we stayed in a room with 2 double beds and a private patio with hammocks for 35 US a night. Nice pool right in front of the beach; hammocks, sand and ocean right on the other side of the fence. Breakfast is available, and food at other times is available up and down the beach. Watch the currents; waves and rip tide can be strong...

Top value for comfort, beauty, and service. My only complaint about this vacation - you must wear shoes on the beach because the sand is so hot!! I will be going back to Pie de la Cuesta and especially the Hotel Villa Nirvana. Why stay in Acapulco when you have the peace and quiet of Nirvana? I watched the amazing sunsets every evening from the comfort of a hammock while listening to the waves crashing on the shore. As another reviewer so so aptly put it, this is a little slice of paradise !!!
