“Stress relieving experience!!!”
Reviewed July 5, 2012

This hotel is surrounded by the greenery of Franciacorta, a land famous for its wines and is the ideal location for pleasure trip. It has very good swimming pool and Aqua Gym with a personal trainer. Food is really very good. Very nice view of mountain and a lake/river around mountain. If you are stressed, it is a right place to visit, relax and rejuvenate.

Room Tip: Look for a room having mountain view.

My wife and I stayed at L'Albereta ten years ago for our 20th Anniversary and were completely enthralled by both the hotel and restaurant. This December we brought our two adult children to re-create the wonderful experience we had had ten years earlier. The hotel was as lovely and comfortable as we remembered. Our rooms were beautifully decorated, large, comfortable and inviting. The facilities and grounds were wonderful including the pool and fitness center. The bar and lounge were comfortable and spacious. The hotel was decorated perfectly for the holidays, especially the small fireplace room just off the reception. Regarding the hotel, with L'Albereta memories can be re-kindled.

What my wife and I love about Relais and Chateau properties is that they always have a wonderful restaurant. I wouldn't consider Erbusco, the L'Albereta location, a destination spot so for us having a restaurant associated with the hotel was a must. I can't adequately put into words how disappointing the Gualtiero Marchesi Restaurant was. We had no misconceptions regarding the overall price we could expect to pay for four at a fine restaurant, but the Gualtiero Marchesi Restaurant was irredeemably and unconscionably overpriced for food served in an ambiance that lacked creativity, character and ingenuity. The lighting was antiseptic and the linens and lack of table decoration added to an impersonal, not-at-all romantic atmosphere. Nothing special at all, for astounding prices.

Two in our party had a perfectly ordinary steak tartare as an appetizer for €40. The other two had foie gras, blanched of color, much colder than it should have been and served on a plain white plate with no garnish and a bitter side of burnt orange jelly for €44 each. These choices were the less expensive appetizers. For main dishes, my wife and daughter shared the pressed duck for €110. All they got for that price was the duck, not even a side. I had suckling pig for €54 which was fine, but not noteworthy. My son's €50+ main course came with just a bitter frisée lettuce. The rolls were stale and crumbled at the touch. I was the only one to order dessert, a €24 Grand Marnier "frozen" soufflé that was interesting but not worthy of the price. The one redeeming aspect of our dinner was the service which, though not warm, was professional and courteous.

Having spoken so highly to our children of our previous L'Albereta dinner it was hard to square this experience with the wonderful one my wife and I had shared ten years earlier. Making this doubly unfortunate, our "splurge" to L'Albereta was serving as our family Christmas celebration and it was disappointing to say the least.

The L'Albereta Hotel linked to the Gualtiero Marchesi Restaurant will keep us from staying at the hotel in the future.

Room Tip: We had Rooms 31 and 32 and both were beautiful, large and comfortable. They each had a balcony over...

We stayed at L'Albereta for four days after our wedding.

The hotel service was by far the best I've ever seen. Always proactive and one step ahead, always friendly, approachable and complaisant. And that was the case for all staff; reception, drivers, waiters, bartenders, gym instructor, cleaners, spa staff etc. Very impressive indeed.

Our room was a guestroom with a patio. The room was nice and clean, although the decoration was a wee bit too romantic for our taste. You know, roses, wood carvings - that sort of stuff. The amenities were high class. So was the cleaning and turndown service.

The gym was pretty much fully equipped with machines, some dumbbells, exercise bikes and treadmills. Free weights were missing though, but I guess the typical guest at L'Albereta doesn't normally ask for those (more on that later). The hotel has 2 indoor pools (quite big) and a few sun decks. The spa offers great treatments - we went for the massage a deux which was really good.

The hotel has two places to get a meal; the really luxurious and expensive Marchesi restaurant, and the bar with the bar menu. I'm sad to say that the Marchesi restaurant is a bit overpriced and I can't really see how it has two stars in Guide Michelin. Don't get me wrong though - it was great, but not THAT great. Instead, give the Erbusco restaurants a try, e.g. La Mongolfiera Dei Sodi. Oh, I forgot the breakfast. Not huge, but luxurious. Great service as always.

I guess we weren't the typical guests at L'Albereta. The typical guest profile would probably be a couple in their 50's that are after a quiet, relaxing and luxurious weekend in the country side. The hotel does a terrific job at just that. For us, we had to take a few days in the hectic streets of Milan to feel the pulse again.

I have spent several nights at L'Albereta. I am a member of relais & Chateauc Club 5. L'albereta is paradise on earth! Welcoming, charming, excellent staff and friendly atmosphere.
I strongly believe that the beauty of a place is made by ourselves. If you want a nice stay you have to be nice not arrogant woth the staff. Don't forget you are on holiday and they work to make you stay superb. Well L'albereta and the Restaurant run by the superb magister Gualtiero Marchesi are representing to me the best experience in a R&A in my life.

Room Tip: Any rooms is excellent and I ahve tried many of them

After staying at the Albereta 3 times in the last 5 months it was time to write a review! The hotel is set in wonderful grounds surrounded by vineyards. My last visit last week was in a beautiful romantic room (no 1) but unfortunately I was there on business and alone (what a waste..). On every visit every room has been unique, very comfortable and very spacioius. The quality and variety of the food is impeccable at all meal times and the wines are excellent. The spa is very professional and has a full range of treatments as well as their own pool, sauna area. There is an additional indoor pool where children can go. They also have a great playroom for children and daily nannies on request (for an additional charge). The hotel even has have full SKY so you can get many international channels (which is not usual in Italy). Above all the service is impeccable and consistent from the front desk, house keeping, resturant, bar etc.... I will be back... just trying to plan a few days R&R to give myself a 'Wellness break'.

Room Tip: Room 1 is very romantic 4 poster bed room with wonderful views. Room 31 very spacious with a large t...

The worse Relais & Chateaux experience we have had. Our disappointment started with our arrival and never left us: we never felt welcome at the Albereta!!
Our disappointment continued at the Spa, the first evening: my husband had booked a relaxing massage and received the most sporty massage ever!!! The therapist had not even questioned him whether he had any health issues, which could render such a massage dangerous for a more sensitive person. As experienced spa-users, my husband was able to assess whether this massage was damageable or not for his health. It is very surprising that such an institution, who offers medical consultations, does not ask very basic questions before carrying out a treatment.
We were hoping some cheering from the gourmet restaurant. This was another bad surprise: we were seated in a cold and dark corridor, frankly not proper to enjoy gastronomic food. We asked to be moved to the principal dining room, much warmer and cosy. This was not possible. After arguing, we were finally placed in the main room and were able to enjoy the rest of the evening.
Generally speaking, the staff is cold and unwelcoming, in contrast to our other R&C experiences.
Room amenities were not up to standard and were poorly isolated (we could hear everything happening two floors below). The whole hotel is totally overpriced compared to the value received!
In a nutshell, we did not feel welcome in this Relais & Chateaux and cannot in good faith recommend this place to any friend. We were even wondering whether the hotel was still qualified as a Relais & Chateaux, given the almost inexistent R&C branding.

L'Albereta is expensive but you need to forget about the prices and just enjoy the shear luxury. If you regard it as a place for a big treat you will not be disappointed. The restaurant is a theatrical experience. The service is attentive but not intrusive . The food is simple in its execution, imaginative and made from absolutely fresh ingredients. Wines are sublime. The room we had was not very big but very comfortable and quiet. The whole establishment is beautifully appointed and luxurious. it is well worth having a car and exploring the local area.
