For the language challenged, vela means 'sail' in Italian. This place at the beginning of the walk along the waterfront to the Marina and beyond, is where you go to find a little snack which can evolve into a very pleasant meal. A prosecco, chips, olives, various crunchy-crackertypes. Then a choice of pasta dishes, followed by a fishy something all well prepared. Dessert this time was an extremely fulfilling apple strudel with ice cream. Service is always friendly and quick. My outdoor table has been in the corner protected by the glass windbreaker, on the outside row of tables facing a spectacular view across Lago Maggiore watching the traghetti come and go between Laveno and Intra, or the sails of boats leaning one way or the other in the distance. A good place to spend also alone reading if you want, and have your needs met as time just passes.
