“A little slice of paradise”
Reviewed August 18, 2013

This could just be another great B&B in a picturesque setting except for Tino and his family which change it into a memorable holiday. We arrived after a hectic fortnight of touring and immediately started to unwind when the private transfer Tino had arranged collected us at Como. Our room had the most spectacular view of the lake, but I imagine they all do. The rooms are large and have a large bathroom. Breakfasts are generous and have everything you could want even for an aussie. During our stay Tino arranged bus tickets, timetables for ferries, dining suggestions, pretty much anything you could want. During our stay there was a fireworks show on the nearby island and Tino generously fed all the guests dinner and drinks that evening for no extra charge, super service! I'm still dreaming about the chicken with tuna sauce and might have to email him for the recipe! OK the property is in a small village several k's from Como or Bellagio but if you are driving or happy to catch the ferry or bus this isn't a problem, besides the gardens are lovely and you could do worse than lie around and read and relax.

Room Tip: All the rooms are great

Our first holiday without our children for many years and we had previously rented villas so were looking for an apartment that would give us some privacy and space but also had fantastic views - we got all this and more from our stay at Nest on the Lake. We had the top floor apartment and slept with the doors overlooking the lake open most nights - absolutely beautiful and very relaxing. The apartment was very well-furnished and modern; lots of space for sitting out at lakeside; easy access for lake swimming and kayaking; lots of things to do and Costantino's recommendations for restaurants, shops and places to visit were invaluable.
Although we had an apartment we also had breakfast - other reviewers are right - lots of choice, well worth it - highly recommended.
Hired car but wouldn't do this again as found roads tricky to drive along - think I just irritated all the locals by being so slow! Next time we will take train from Milan airport to Como and then ferry to Lezzeno or sort out a pick up with Costantino.
Last word to Costantino and family - so friendly - many hotels could learn about customer service from this family - overheard Costantino talking to lots of different guests from many nationalities and age groups and he always spoke enthusiastically, putting them at ease - he even took us and another couple on a tour around the lake in his boat - fantastic. Look forward to coming again next year for a little longer.

We booked Nest on the Lake for just 2 nights during our 4 week tour of Italy. Driving to the B&B from Milan, I had a close encounter with a protruding rock on the side of the narrow road and damaged the front alloy rim of the rental car. I was still some 12kms from the B&B when I phoned our host, Constantino (Tino), to let him know our arrival would be delayed for some time. He immediately asked if we wanted to be picked up. Fortunately, the car was fitted with run-flat tyres and we managed to drive the remaining distance to the B&B. I was pretty devastated by the incident as we still had several days of driving ahead of us. But Tino took charge, called the rental agency, arranged for a tow truck to take the car away, and then organised a second car rental for us to pick up the next day from nearby Como. Having dealt quickly with the important matters, Tino offered us a welcome drink from the bar. After the drama of the morning, how that whiskey tasted good! Later that afternoon, I met an American couple also staying at the B&B. They had arrived the previous day by bus. Once at the B&B, they discovered they had left their camera on the bus! Tino got on his scooter and rode off after the bus, returning to the B&B some time later, camera in hand. Tino is a host who exemplifies "customer service" - he truly cares about his guests' well-being during their stay at his B&B.

Many reviewers have already described the fantastic views of Lake Como that are available from the rooms of this B&B. We booked a room, but were lucky to be given the top-floor apartment. We did not use the kitchen facilities, but appreciated the generous living space of this accommodation. The views were indeed spectacular, and keen photographers will particularly enjoy how the changes of light highlight the mountains and lake during early morning and late afternoon.

Prior to operating the B&B, Tino used to own and manage several restaurants. We have stayed in many B&B's, but Nest on the Lake is the first one we can recall that offers a generous buffet breakfast. Reflecting his restaurant management experience perhaps, I believe this B&B's breakfasts provide another example of the generosity of its engaging host.

For dinner, we accepted Tino's recommendations and dined at nearby restaurants for both our evening meals. One of the restaurants prepares fish caught from the Lake as one of its menu options - so fresh, so delicious!

Nest on the Lake enjoys an ideal position overlooking Lake Como. There is a frequent bus service that operates with a stop a few minutes walk from the B&B that can be used for visiting Bellagio and Como. Bellagio is less than 15 minutes drive away...

Our time at this B&B was truly special. And when it was time to check out after only 2 nights stay, we were already thinking of our next holiday and how much we would like to return to this "nest on the lake".

My husband and I stayed for 6 nights at the end of May in the ground floor apartment. We hired a car in Milan and drove to Lezzeno which was a nightmare. Ok if you are European but for an Aussie a bit scary. Next time we will get the train and ferry as it is easy to manage without a car and Tino will arrange a pick up. Once we calmed down after the trip Tino and Raffael made us very welcome and we totally relaxed for the next 6 nights. Raffael even did our washing for us. Tino always had a welcoming drink with us after a days sightseeing and was so informative on all we needed to know about the lake and surrounding areas. He even drove us to a nearby restaurant and picked us up afterwards. The apartment was spacious, clean and very comfortable and the breakfast was just lovely especially the home made cake every morning. The views are stunning from everywhere on the property - who needs to stay at George Clooneys place as it is all here. After travelling for 8 weeks including cruising and some beautiful hotels Nest on the Lake is on the top of our list for a return visit. Thank you Tino and Raffael for a wonderful stay.

Room Tip: The apartment was great for us as it had a full size kitchen but I think all the rooms would be good...

We stayed here 3 nights as part of a 16 night holiday on the lake. Apart from the Nest, we stayed at 4 & 5 star hotels but this is the place that will stay in our memory. Such charming hosts, an amazing setting, delicious breakfasts. We stayed in an apartment with 2 balconies overlooking the lake. So lovely to wake up to that view and to see the swans and ducks on the beach below. Would love to go back. A truly special place to stay.

We stayed for four nights at Nest on the Lake B&B in June 2013. The property has four storeys, each configured slightly differently to have either one large apartment (w/ bedroom and kitchen) or two smaller hotel-style rooms. Tino (and family) was a great jovial host. But the thing that was most memorable was the view.... full 180-degree lake front view of Lake Como. You can't get any closer without being in the water! You could sit on the balcony and enjoy the view all day, from sunrise to sunset and late into the night.... the scenery is never exactly the same. Breakfast is on the waterfront patio; you can enjoy the company of the swans and ducks hanging out nearby on the water. Lezzeno is a smaller, pleasantly quiet town on the shore of the SW arm of Lake Como, just a short drive or bus/taxi/ferry ride from Bellagio. If arriving for the first time, I suggest you arrange a transfer with Tino to avoid getting the hassle of looking around for the place while dragging your luggage with you. If coming by yourself by boat (from Como or Bellagio), get off at the Lezzeno ferry dock and walk north along the main road for approximately 1 km. It's the bright red building on the lake side of the road, hard to miss. We will always fondly remember our visit to Nest on the Lake and can't wait to go back again!
