“The views more than compensate for a few minuses”

We stayed in an apartment on the third floor of this fabulous old villa. Our bedroom had French windows opening on to a small terrace facing the lake and to wake up to that view every morning was amazing. The apartments have been fitted out to a high spec, very sleek and modern. We loved it. It's a very short walk to the local bakers and Argegno, a village we've stayed in before and really like. However, the joining instructions were non-existent and the villa is very hard to find. Booking.com take note - a sat nav address is not enough. When we eventually found the property there was no-one there to greet us and a neighbour kindly telephoned the owners. Eventually someone turned up to direct us into the underground car park (access to this is down a very narrow spiral which we nicknamed the wall of death). We were travelling with a friend whose room was not available, so she had to change rooms the following day - not good when you're only staying for four nights. Steps down to the road to reach the village are steep and uneven and definitely need lights for when guests are returning at night in the dark. Wifi also a bit hit and miss, as other reviewers have reported. However, these niggles pale into insignificance when you look out over the lake. We still loved this place and will definitely go back.....with a torch!

“Beautiful location and overview”
Reviewed March 9, 2015 for a stay in February 2015

The location is just in front of the lake with 220 degrees overview. The staff is very friendly and ready to react if requested. This is an ancient villa with a big garden with Gazebos, barbeques and sundbeds.
The central town square is only at 40 meters and you can find ferry deck and bus station.
Really a nice Holiday and we will come back again during the summer.

A truly wonderful vacationrental in the small city of Argegno, right at the Como lake. The building is build in 1905 and still has the wonderful charmes. The livingroom is very spacious with doors to the 12 meter wide balcony, overlooking the lake. Three well equipped bedrooms (bedlinnen provided by owner), fully equipped kitchen and two nice bathrooms with shower, toilet and bidet.
Parkingspace available on the premises, in a private garage, just wonderful.

No additional costs to be paid at the location. A guardian will bring the keys and arrange the payment.

Como , Milaan and Lugago are in near proximity, and easy to reach. Argegno is a very relaxed city with several restaurants and small shops.

We had a wonderful time and would recommend this rental to anyone, without any doubts. Don't go all at once, as we will definately be back next year.

“Fanastic Views from the Apartment and Wonderful Location”
Reviewed September 17, 2014 for a stay in September 2014

I would have given this 5 out of 5 but too many issues. The good points - absolutely fanastic views from the apartment and balcony and terrace. Argegno is a wonderful location. The apartment is spacious. However the bad points. 1) WiFi. When we booked we specifically needed WiFi for work and family purposes. We asked the owner and he said yes WiFi was available and free. I had seen some other reviews which said the Wifi was not there or not working and so I checked just before we left and again was told yes it was available and free. I see that many apartments on Lake Como charge an extra £30 a week if you want WiFi and I would have been happy to pay this. We arrived and were given the password. For that night and the next day the Wifi worked well and we thought all was good. However on the 2nd day and for the rest of our week we had NO Wifi. We asked the owner several times if he was able to sort it out - firstly he told us to unplug the modem and start again, then to disconnect and put the password in again and then he said it was the phone line and we never heard from him again on this subject. I know it is a mountainous area and had expected the Wifi might be off and on but it just went off completely and never came back! 2) the apartment was not clean - we cleaned up the kitchen a bit ourselves to make it more acceptable. There was inches thick dust on all the surfaces and the bathrooms were not clean, The whole of the inside needs redecorating - the paint on the woodwork is not good and in the third bedroom for instance the walls need repainting as you can see through to the bare wall in places. 3) The apartment sleeps 7 but in the sitting room area there is a settee to seat 2 and one armchair! there are 6 white plastic chairs on the balcony (not 7!) and one of the loungers on the terrace was broken and there is a general lack of maintenance in the gardens. What also is not advertised is that to get to bedrooms 2, 3 and 4 you have to go through the Master bedroom which is annoying as there is no privacy and it is a shame because the views from that bedroom are spectacular and there are french doors opening onto a terrace. We have children in their 20's and it was not very satisfactory that they had to go through our bedroom all the time! This is a point that should be advertised! Another major point is that the lack of sound proofing from the apartments above -for instance the sitting room of one is above the Master bedroom. I know this is a very old building but this fact should be pointed out. The sound of footsteps is very loud and if for instance someone upstairs drops something it reverberates down. On our first night the people above were out and came back late - after 10 - they then proceeded to pack up and for an hour the noise from footsteps going back and forth between the sitting room and bedrooms was awful as was the noise from cases being dragged around. and lots of banging around. Then at 6.00 a.m we were woken by their alarm going off and again the noise from their getting up and leaving. We hoped that was a one off but new people arrived and again most nights we were woken by people upstairs - this is not their fault of course but I do think this fact should be advertised. As I say the views are truly memorable from the all the rooms especially from the balcony, sitting room, kitchen, middle bedroom and Master bedroom but these other issues need sorting for a 5 out of 5 and it would be better not to advertise internet or to charge extra for it if there are problems. I should say that some people comment on the number of steps down to the village so I was expecting a hike but in fact there are hardly any steps and it is literally a couple of minutes walk to the local bakers! I have ticked yes to recommending it to friends but this is based on the views and location only.
