We had skipped lunch that day and so we went for dinner quite early. When we arrived at about 6:30 pm they were actually still closed. But the waiter needless s standing outside and offered us to wait on their terrace until they open. He even
us some cheese, olives and a very tasty wine.
The good thing about our early arrival was that we had plenty of time to enjoy the incredible view over the lake.
We studied the menu but we could hardly make our choices, everything sounded very good. We asked the waiter for a plate of mixed antipasti and a Vitello Tonnato. Both was very tasty.
We only choose one of their Primi to leave some room for Secondi. The waiter kindly offered to bring us a mix of our favorite two meals on one plate. needless to repeat that this was very tasty, too, just like the Secondi and finally the Tiramisu.
The restaurant was full of local people which is a good sign from my perspective. In fact I think we were the only foreigners that night. Yet the waiter spoke very good English and we felt very welcome.

The prices for both food and wine were very reasonable, almost a bit on the low side if you consider the quality of the food, the extraordinary atmosphere and the kind staff.

The Al Camino was recommended to us by our host, Enrico from the CasaBella B&B at Lesa.
we found a quiet little jam located up the hill with fine cosine and personal service.
we had the "Bruscitt" and Gnocchi alla Parigina which both were great and had also a glass of local red wine.

Excellent food--not elaborate, just very good cooking. Very friendly service. Wines are very reasonably priced. We liked it so much the first time we went that we went back a second time (even though it was a few miles from our hotel in Stresa). It is up on a hill on a narrow road and parking is very tight--go early (or park the way others did, taking up close to half of the narrow, twisting road). We were there at night in October so couldn't appreciate the view, but I don't doubt that it is spectacular.

This is a small restaurant up the hill behind Lesa. This is not a "slow food" restaurant in the commercial sense, it is a slow food restaurant because each course is carefully prepared when you have finished the prior course. There is no more relaxing experience than dining here with a great view of Lago Maggiore from the terrace in the good weather, and a very warm and comfortable interior when it is not. The food is consistently excellent and the onion soup outstanding.
