We ended up spending one extra night here, (4 in total), because we just had to get out of touristy Zermatt Switzerland. We are so glad we did. Such a welcoming home. We had a lovely big clean room with a kitchenette and a separate little garden to ourselves. Enrico and his family were fabulous. We could have breakfast at our choice of time, and so many things were available to feast on - even sweets, (my kind of yummies for breakfast, lunch and supper too for that fact).
Enrico was kind enough to supply us with a box and tape as we wanted to send some of our belongings home to lighten our load. A very gracious host indeed. Any questions we had were happily answered and many brochures provided. Enrico has a whole bookcase full of information about the area.
The house is located in quiet Lesa. There is a small grocery store near by, (closed Sunday and Monday), a couple of small cafes, a pharmacy and post office near by. A bus stop is also not a 5 minute walk from the house, (no buses on Sundays). The train station of Lesa is about a 10 minute walk to the house. The train station is derelict, but the train does stop there, (unless the trains are on strike), which happened on the Sunday we were there, (and no bus available). We therefore decided we could walk to Stresa, as it was only a 7 minute vehicular ride, we were told. DO NOT walk unless you are prepared for a 3 hour hike along windy narrow streets. No fun with my bad knee. I had to end up hitchhiking and my husband walked the rest of the way.
The walks we took around the streets of Lesa were really nice, especially as you got to smell the scent of Jasmine throughout the area.
All in all I am really glad we found this quiet retreat in Lesa. Thanks Enrico to you and your family. We had a truly wonderful stay.
