If those two negative comments are anything to go by, one should refrain from taking seriously any of the crituques on this site. We were at Riviera this summer: a couple with teenager and spent a wonderful time there. Riviera is a lovely hotel with proprietors who are very committed to making your holiday in Gargnano a success! (G. Scanferlato lent me his own wrist bandage when I had trouble with my wrist...) Both proprietors will provide their guests with interesting details about history and culture of the village and area. They both demonstrate a fine taste as one can tell by the lovely pictures, antique musical instruments, etc. everywhere. Carpet, walls, furniture, bathrooms...everything brandnew and spotless. Comfy beds and good breakfast (including good coffee!!) on a terrace with a spectacular view - you will find all this Riviera for a rather moderate price! I cannot understand why someone passed a bad judgement of the hotel because of the absence of a free parking! What makes this village so nice is partly that cars have to be left outside. But the communal parking is a mere 200metres away and the cost of € 3,- for hotel guests is very fair! How anyone expects a parking lot in front of this hotel when the homepage clearly states what the case is beats me. It is like judging an ice cream parlour for the absence of a steak... We had two rooms that had an additional common entrance which made it like our own little appartment. One room that faced the inner courtyard is rather dark and one can hear ventilation and other noises - that is not so nice - true - but one has the choice and ought to choose the room that one likes. For our teenage daughter who is not keen on views it was no problem and, moreover, the room is quite affordable. The tiles on the terrace and lobby area are another example of how the proprietors have invested in this place, with taste and a sense for an old building...it must have cost a fortune. Anyone who claims otherwise cannot be in his right mind. And people who do not like the village for its lack of beaches should stay away! This is precisely the kind of tourist one will not miss in Gargnano!
