We have read many good Reviews about this Hotel and so we three Adults and one 2,5 year old Child decided to go there. We booked one Superior with Lakeview and one Standard Room. They upgrade it freely and gave us two Supeior Rooms near to each other, which very practical as a Parents with small Child to visit Grandmother as many times as we wished.Very friendly, hardworking and sympathic Staff from Reception to Cleaning Ladies and to Waiters in Dining.
See and Park for Children is five Minutes away by walking. It is fantastic.
All Informations about the Surroundings can be found at the Table near to Reception. They also inform you with pleasure. We enjoyed having our Diner every Evening at the Restaurant of Hotel.( see Feedback Restaurants Gargnano ) The Rooms are new renovated. We loved the use Swimmingpool, the air is heated to 28 c with a bit chilly water.
It is very good managed hotel with absolutey fantastic View, very friendly and competent Staff , nice Swimmingpool and a good Restaurant. We sincerely recommend it to everybody and hope to come back soon.

What the reviews don't say is that Gargano, the Lake Garda village this hotel is in, was a stronghold of the SS in the 2nd W War. Interesting - they chose a pretty spot. I thought it was the prettiest in the lakes: the 'front' is planted with lovely orange trees. The village is on the Brescia, not Verona side of the lake. It is up a steep hill, and as we were travelling by public transport that was the only drawback. The hotel has lovely staff, and the lady owners were so helpful and lovely. The rooms are spacious and light, with good beds. We were on the 3rd floor, and the views from the balcony were wonderful. This is not a glamorous hotel, but it is practical (sloping floors instead of steps, for cases) and you can eat well on site. The pool is closed occasionally (Tues and Thurs) for the local children to use, which I approve of. There's a sundeck and table tennis. There are also flatlets, for families. There is lots of parking.

Room Tip: Good value with great service and warm staff.

We were on a family trip to 5 areas of Italy and I couldn't get my first choice of hotel and was a bit concerned that this one would be disappointing. However, it was anything but! The sisters/owners were friendly and welcoming, my correspondences with Mara were informative, the New Superior rooms were beautiful and quiet, and the balconies provided a spectacular view. There was secure parking, gorgeous gardens, and several terraces. Breakfast in the breakfast room overlooked the garden and we ate a delicious hotel meal, outside, overlooking the lake. We even brought home a bottle of their house wine. In the evenings we sat on the large roof terrace enjoying the night air and playing cards.

We visited in late June and a heat wave arrived at the same time. This was the only drawback to our time there. I would highly recommend a stay there.

I stayed at the Meandro for 3 nights in spring 2007. Spring is definately the best time at the Garda because it's rather quiet.
The Meandro is totally ok! Some rooms are very sober and could compete with those of a 4-star city hotel. However most rooms are rather spartanic and might be too expensive for what you get.
The breakfast is average, as we know in Italy there's not really the big breakfast cultrure and therefore there is no continental breakfast.
The view in the restaurant and the breakfast room(2 seperate rooms) is majestic! you see over the whole garda lake! really spectecular.

The evening food is good - the amount could be a bit more but that is compensated by the huge salad buffet, included in every evening meal. The family-run hotel is very very friendly!

The only thing which bothered me a bit was that the hotel hosts a youth conference every spring and has approximately 50 serbian girls staying there (which stay out late and don't seem to know that one should be quiet when entering a hotel at 4 in the morning... The fact that they bring the local boys is another source of noise pollution.)

The hotel however has many wings so it really depends in which one you stay.

All in all I recomend the hotel to everybody visiting the Garda. Gargnano a beautifully quiet but rich historical city lies between Limone (north) and Salo(south) of the western bank of the Garda.

My husband and I stayed at the Meandro for 9 nights in a New Superior room. We had booked a Superior room but were put in a New Superior room when we arrived as there wasn't a Superior available and was told we could stay in it at no extra cost. The room was spacious and spotlessly clean and the view of the lake breathtaking, it was very quiet and we could here the water lapping at night. The staff were all very friendly and the two sisters who run the place couldn't have been nicer. I have a wheat intolerance and they got me special wheat free pasta and made me special meals. The restaurant is very informal but the food is top quality, with a selection of salad available at every meal. We had half board and the selection was very good. The buffet breakfast was intensive with the usual cereal, dried fruit, cakes, pastries, bread and scrambled eggs, boiled eggs and hams and cheeses. We would recommend this hotel and would stay there again with no hesitation. Gargnano is a beautiful small town/village 5 mins walk from the hotel down a steep hill. There is a very good bus service to other places along the lake and of course there is a selection of boats which travel up and down from the small harbour. Lake Garda is top of my list for a holiday.

I was hesitant about booking a 3 -star rated hotel with all the family in tow, so I booked a second hotel as a backup! I shouldn't have bothered.

This is a modern hotel in an idyllic setting overlooking Lake Garda, which can be accessed via a pleasant short stroll down to the shore some 500 yards away. Here you will find two restaurants for snacks or more robust meals. The road also continues directly into the village of Gargnano, with about a dozen restaurants, some on a promenade over the lake.

The views from the private balconies of the lake facing rooms (make sure you request a lake view) are serene & beautiful. The beds are very comfortable and there is a TV and fridge.

Lunch & Dinner is served in a dedicated restaurant area again with views directly over the lake. The food is of a good standard, with all fresh ingredients. Breakfast is served in a restaurant below, with the same beautiful views and is of a good standard again, with a choice of breads/croissants, fresh fruit, yoghurts, eggs, juices and cereals etc.

The garden area is small, but this is compensated by the fact that the lake is a short stroll away. There is also a roof terrace and hotel facilities include a really decent sized indoor swimming pool (free) as well as a sauna, sun room and Jacuzzi (at modest ad hoc charge).

There is also secure parking on the hotel grounds.

But if all the above does not tempt you enough, what adds the cherry on the top are the staff; from the proprietors (3 sisters I believe) through to the waitress and cleaning staff. Nothing is too much trouble and everything is done with a smile.

So to sum up, this hotel is not 'The Ritz', but neither is the price!! If you are looking for a peaceful yet convenient location, clean accommodation, delightful staff, good food and views to enjoy with a bottle of the local 'Bordellino' - this hotel should do the trick. I will certainly pay another visit, should I return to the Lake in the future.

Oh- and as for the other hotel we booked. We stayed 2 dreadful nights (only because they refused to charge for any less) and came right back to Hotel Meandro, for our final nights on the lake! Ciao!

The Hotel Meandro is a lovely family-run hotel in Gargnano. The owners (3 sisters) are extremely helpful and pleasant.

My room was spacious and lovely and had a balcony with a 180 degree panorama of the lake and mountains. There is also a roof terrace which provides a 360 degree view.

The hotel is clean and quiet (even with the occasional tour bus).

I chose half-board which included breakfast (buffet) and the evening meal. The food was excellent and plentiful.

The prices are moderate and the value for the price is outstanding.

I would definitely stay here again
