It is often difficult to single out what makes the perfect meal and in this case it is impossible. The place itself is a little unprepossessing from the road, in fact we drove past it. But do not let that fool you. This is a fantastic spot for lunch! It is exactly what you would ask for in an outdoors meal, surrounded by vines in the Uco Valley.
We sat out in the sun under a pergola type arrangement. It is a 5 course wine-pairing menu, as is common in this area, which really served a perfect representation of the food and wine of the area. The service was attentive, informative, but not overpowering. Ezekiel - the grandson of the founder of the vineyard - was on hand serving the wine. After the amazing dinner - which as part of which I had delicious bbq steak, though there were at least three other choices - Ezekiel took us into the very small winery - and told us a bit about the winery and gave us a tasting from the barrel. The size of the winery is such that the top wine they do is of a very limited run.
We loved the wine and the tasting so much we ended up buying one of the bottles, and even with this added to the menu, the bill was extremely reasonable.
I cannot recommend Bodega Azul enough!
