Golden Age Crystal Bodrum
Ranked #4 of 9 Hotels in Gumusluk
Reviewed November 3, 2013

stayed at the crystal (meth) from 14th-21st of October the rooms were very basic and could do with being up graded to the 21st century. The rest of the hotel was good and plenty of areas to sit and relax but watch out for the steps there were so many it was almost a tragedy !!! the hotel is set on many levels and certainly gave your legs a good work out.
The food was good and always found something to eat even for my veggie wife the drinks were good and no way watered down as in some reviews. The pool areas were good with plenty of sunbeds and the views from the top pool were amazing just don't expect the ritz !! we paid £200 for the week and was really good value you get what you pay for they had a mini zoo which just looked like lunch waiting to happen full of chickens & cockerels that kept you awake from the crack of dawn staff were friendly and always happy to help as I said don't expect high quality rooms there would be more luxury on a camp bed !!

We stayed at the Crystal for 2 weeks from 9th Oct 2013. Considering we only paid £400 each inc flights this was a supprisingly good value hotel. The food was nice , views spectacular, rooms nice and big , seafront facilities fab, staff really good service great, drinks a bit limited but wine and beer v nice, 24hr help yourself hot drinks. When you stay at this hotel you MUST remember what you have paid. Yes this hotel is not the ritz and probably really a 3* not 4* ,there are a few improvments that need to be made i.e. heat the pools, fix the showers and drainage from them, open the lounge bar till 12 for all guests not only when the Turkish arrive {it was open till 9 and you had to get drinks from bottom pool bar and carry them up which puzzled everyone, }. There were a lot of unrully Polish people staying there who had no regard for anyone and there were no staff members who could control them !! What was really annoying is to have to share your holiday destination with moaning morons who wouldnt know value for money if it smacked them in the face . Thankyou Crystal and as Arnie says we will be back .

Thanks for your good revie and advices to us.
we will listen and do.You can be sure.
and about one point i think we have to make explanation.
Dear Ladies and gentlemen ,
in crystal Hotel we never look at the nationalities.
Polish ,English , Russian , German , Turkish
we are all humans.
so about service bar : ( which is open untill 21:30 , we close it after dinner )
and why ? because restaurant closed , animation starts at that time at anfi theatre
we dont open it when Turkish come ,
because there are always turkish guests in Hotel , we opened service bar sometimes with the request of our English guests .

thans for your review
we are looking forward to seeing you again.

After a 2 and a half hour ride from the Airport the room they gave us was not only filthy, it was dangerous. The bathroom STANK of urine and was too dirty to use. After being fobbed off by reception and our rep (we move you tomorrow) I had to PAY £120 to upgrade as I did not want the holiday ruined. The Night Club keeps you up till 2 or 3 am. Food mediocre at best. Pretty run down place really. Not at all the 4* I believed I had booked. Not at all a relaxing spa as there is loud dance music playing somewhere for most of the day and night. I would not go back - if they PAID ME!!

I booked into this hotel at midnight and decided within ten minutes I was checking out in the morning. The whole place reeked of dirtiness, unprofessionalism and rank bad organisation.

Ashtrays full of fag ends, dirty bedroom floors, filthy glasses in the bathroom, a 'disco' that was dump, food stored in unheated containers - and guests who were telling us they hated the place and couldn't wait to leave. I could go on.

This hotel is a disgrace to a beautiful area of Bodrum.

Just got back from the Crystal hotel where we spent 2 weeks. The hotel is in a lovely location with beautiful views and is set on various levels. Upon arrival we were allocated our rooms immediately, I wasn't happy with the 1st room as it faced against a brick wall but was allocated another room straight away, which overlooked the top pool and was much better. The rooms were spacious but basic and in need of a little attention but this did not put us off. (we were in room 4312). There was a little noise from the disco but nothing to complain about. The housekeeper cleaned our rooms and left clean towels daily and always had a smile.

The hotel is in an isolated area so if you wanted to go to any bars or restaurants you had to catch a bus which run pretty frequently, although the last bus to Yelikavak,(which is a lovely little town with a marina and shops, bars and restaurants) is 6pm with taxis costing around £13 and about 15 mins drive away. The small village of Gumsuluk is 15 mins bus ride and has some lovely fish restaurants along the front and some nice little craft shops. Bodrum and Gumbet are about 35 mins bus ride and costs around £2.

There is a hotel bus which takes you down to the beach (which is very pleasant) and runs every hour. The beach has a jetty and a garden area with sunbeds. There are also sunbeds and hammocks on the roof of the beach hut. The beach hut serves Turkish pizzas 11-3 and Burger and chips 3-5pm along with drinks until 6pm.

The food served at the restaurant is very good although the hot food was a little limited for my liking and not very hot.. The salad bar was excellent with a vast variety of cold meats and salad. The restaurant staff were very attentive and always had a smile on their face especially Harry.

The restaurant bar closed at 9pm which was very annoying as we had to go down to the pool bar for our drinks after 9pm which entailed going down 2 floors in the lift and down 2 flights of steps. We did sort it out on our 2nd week as we all complained to the manager (may I add the manager was the most miserable person I have ever met and never had a smile on his face or said hello) that it was too cold around the pool area at night so they did leave the restaurant bar open until 12. The bar staff were very pleasant.

The entertainment staff were hopeless especially Star, all she was interested in was eating in the restaurant, looking in the mirror and getting peeps to go on bar crawl so she could get free drinks. She did admit she didn't care as she wouldn't be working at that hotel after we left. We saw 1 show in our 2 week stay.

Overall we did have a great holiday, thanks to the lovely people we met, (big hello to Gary, Gillian, Mick and Jane) we made our own entertainment. I cannot complain about the hotel for the price we paid..

Arrived 3rd October 2013 for a 14 day cheap All Inclusive stay, knowing that this hotel has had some poor reviews earlier in the year, but appeared to have corrected some of the issues that had been commented on.
Like other guests no towels in the room on arrived and with a quick phone call they were brought 20 minutes later, and the towels were replace on a regular basis by house keeping. I know that some countries standards of hygiene are lower than that of a similar hotel rating in England, but here you have to question if they understand hygiene.
There was a sign on the bathroom wall about the environment and water, but there was no plug in the sink, also there were 2 soap dispensers, but neither were filled in 14 days, so bring your own.
The floor in the bathroom was tiled but the grout is turning red and black with mould and the shower needed to be re sealed and cleaned, a steam cleaner would help. However I know other people have commented recently about the poor conditions, and I have to agree, but there are some very disturbing issues here, so let me explain. We were allocated room 2213 on the second floor of reception block. When I asked for a different pillow case as there was a blood stain on one, I was told "IT'S A CLEAN STAIN" and it would be replace when the bedding was replace later on in the week.
On returning to the room one afternoon we could see that house keeping had been in the room and replace the towels emptied the bathroom bin etc, BUT there was something extra in the bathroom at the base of the toilet on the bathroom floor tiles, it was a black shimmering wet sludge about an inch wide around the base of the toilet with lots of "THINGS" wiggling in it, worm/leach like. I had to go to reception to explain and they sent house keeping straight away who wiped the floor area with a towel and said if any other "things" appear they will crawl to the drain and go.The issue here is where did they come from? after 15 minutes it became clear, there was a piece of grout missing from the base of the toilet and on flushing out would come the sludge and worms and some sewage liquid. So if you are allocated room 2213, do not remove the toilet paper which was used to stop the leak at the base of the toilet.
The stair well from the reception had a tissue and a drink stain on them when we arrived and they were still there 14 days later.
The hot milk dispenser in the restaurant had dried crystallized milk around the spout and lever which was not clean in 14 days, and people had to guess which way the milk would come out, straight down, or to a side, the spouts was full of milk fat.
The flower pots on the landings were full of cigarette ends
The lower pool filters were not cleaned in 14 days with tissues and leaves on them, there also was a large piece of plastic over flow grid missing from the pool side.

There are some good points the "Hamam" the on site Turkish Bath and Happy Harry the waiter but other people have covered these.

The management at this hotel were rude and arrogant and this hotel needs to start concentrating on the basics and getting those right, companies pay a lot of money for people to come into their businesses and tell them what is wrong and how to improve, this hotel needs to start reading Trip Adviser and acting on the comments before it totally spirals out of control, or before people stop coming all together, or start getting ill.
