“A gem in a very unspoilt part of Portugal”
Reviewed July 17, 2013

We didn't stay here, our friends took us. Recently opened, this is 5 star in the making. Staff (as we found everywhere in Portugal), were delightful, nothing too much trouble. We had brunch the first time we went, sitting on a gorgeous bright mauve settee. Contemporary setting. Saw the rooms, very cosy if a little on the dark side but with every amenity. We then decided to go back and have lunch. I think this is a Michelin star restaurant in the making. We had delectable little chef's starters, followed by an excellent 2 course lunch for 12 euros or 3 course for 15 euros. Beautiful china, very knowledgeable Sommelier... we tried the Vinho Verde which was crisp, dry and excellent with our food
If I wanted an overnight trip out of Iisbon, say to go and visit Obidos (if you had a car), this is the place to stay..... it's lovely.... go there....

Room Tip: Rooms away from the road are the quieter ones but the room we looked at had good double glazing so d...

We landed in this hotel lost in the middle of nowhere because of its proximity to the quaint walled town of Obidos.

Well, lucky us.

It is by far the best hotel we had in our 10 days in Portugal.

Modern furniture, good design, quiet, very clean. Very pleasant room, indeed.

More toiletries than anywhere else I've seen!

Still no coffee pot though.

Very good diner on nicely dressed tables. Great breakfast.

Staff as nice as can be.

Congrats.

We stopped for a night on our way to Lisbon. Nice hotel in an old building recently renovated. Garage included in price, an extra bonus. Good breakfast, with old carriage in breakfast room as décor, nice. Medium sizes rooms, nice bathroom, and good beds.

Mannequins in a display window right by our rooms; a bit unsettling and in poor taste! Dressed in a 30s attire they reminded me of an ‘Alfred Hitchcock presents’ episode when the mannequins in a department store come to life at night! Could have done with a vase of flowers, instead!

All in all a nice stay, the town has some beautiful Art Nouveau building scattered around, unfortunately well hidden amidst ugly concrete buildings. This was a rich spa town at the beginning of the twentieth century. Why not preserve such a treasure, one wonders?

We went for lunch here yesterday. What great food and fantastic value for money. Excellent 2 course lunch for 12e or 3 courses for 15e!!!! Definitely the best destination for lunch in Caldas. A must try.

We had an excellent six night stay in this hotel.Although it might appear to be a business hotel it was also really good for a holiday. The staff couldn't be more helpful and friendly. Whilst Caldas Das Rhaina is not a tourist resort there are plenty of good restaurants and the sea is not far away.

Stayed here on New Year's Eve. Hotel staff were extremely friendly and very helpful. The room was nice, clean, and very comfortable. The bathroom was really nice, including a heated mirror that did not fog up. We stayed in a suite and were given complimentary champagne and a fruit tray. Free wireless internet.

Only stayed one night in this property...but we will be back!

From a friendly, efficient check-in to the moment we checked out we were delighted with the hotel. Food good, staff delightful and a very comfortable, clean bedroom and bathroom. And all at a very affordable rate. As I said, we will definitely be going back.

Room Tip: Our room was road facing, but traffic noise was minimal...so I cannot imagine there is a bad room in...
