“Trendy , cosy , friendly beach hotel”
Reviewed August 21, 2013

I was in Aphrodite Beach Hotel on August 2013. We were there with a big group of ten people. ( from age 1of my nephew to 77 years old my dad )

The hotel was well placed near the seashore. The rooms were clean. The sleep quality was good.

The only absent in the room was cracked plastic entrance of the electicity key hole. During our holiday , we had some trouble with that broken plastic entrance.

The hotel staff were friendly. They were helpfull and kind. In the end of my holiday whole family were happy.

I advise you to bring your seaside shoes for pebble seashore.

My children and I read a review in the Guardian and followed their tip. We were NOT disappointed: http://www.theguardian.com/travel/2012/may/04/unspoilt-greece-beach-holidays-family

The family - and their bright staff - manning the hotel, bar and restaurant couldn't have been more welcoming, friendly and responsive. Nothing was too much trouble, and the standard of the room, beautiful clean pool, and food and drink was impressive.

They arranged for taxi transfers to and from Mytilene. They rang museums and hot springs to check opening times for my children and I. And they helped me avoid nuts - to which I am highly allergic - in all food. We were going to explore other places to eat, but ended up here every evening, as their food was always fresh and delicious and varied.

We had a very happy week, and would thoroughly recommend this hotel to others.

14 times I have visitted this family hotel with local food and wonderful pools and the most fantastic beach across the road! I have been here with family, with friends and the last 2 years with groups practising Pilates exercises. The hotel and the staff worked perfect for all occasions-

Simple but nice and clean hotel. The Vatera beach is maybe the calmest beach of the island and Aphrodite Hotel here is suitable for families with kids. For dinner you might like to explore the other restaurants along the beach as we found the food at the hotel very salty.

Our stay at the Aphrodite Hotel Vatera was very relaxing. A lovey facility just across the road from the beach and with a pool and bar faciltity. A family ioperated hotel which has rental cars avaialble. The beach is very suitable for children with plenty of things to climb on and over. Good walking in the area and several restaurants with sea vies

Excellent hide-away if you want space, peace and quiet. The water is like velvet and the food and the hospitality is very good. I have already been twice and I shall probably go again. The rooms are nice and comfortable.

Thankyou to all the beautiful Hahathakis family, mothers, aunties, uncles, nonnas, sons and daughters and the enchanting surrounds of the Aphrodite Hotel in Vatera on the island of Lesvos. My wife and I will always reminisce over the days we spent enjoying the authentic food e and hospitality of your hotel. Loved our Greek ,blue and white room. We travelled throughout the Greek Isles but never felt more Greek than at The Aphrodite and the surronding villages of Lesvos. Special thanks to you Yanni , you go beyond what is expected and your example has passed on to your extended family . My wife enjoyed the dolmades making and the Greek Easter experience at Vrisa . I miss my swimming in the Aegean and the beach side service ..cant write anymore I'm missing it too much.....

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
LESVOS is a traditional island, virtually unaffected by mass tourism. Made up of small , closely knit towns and villages, Lesvos is a safe haven for those who want to experience the real Greece. The majestic beach of VATERA is the largest and most beautiful beach of LESVOS ISLAND. Situated on the southern side VATERA'S seemingly endless stretch of sandy-pebble beach has been repeatedly awarded the Blue Flag of E.E.C (European union ) for it's clean , unspoiled beach and water. APHRODITE BEACH HOTEL is built on the seafront of VATERA beach. Built and owned by John and George Hahathakis ,it is completely family run. John's wife Maria is from Kelowna, B.C. Canada and George's wife Georgina from the island. We all speak English and are always ready to provide our Customers with excellent service and to make you feel at home. The friendly service , clean and relaxed atmosphere will ensure that your holiday is unique and unforgettable. APHRODITE BEACH HOTEL has single , double and triple occupancy rooms , double and triple studios , as well as fully-furnished apartments ( with 2 or 3 bedrooms ), all together 102 beds. All rooms have : Air-conditioning , T.V with cable reception, mini bar ( hotel rooms ) , or mini kitchenette (studios) , hair - dryers , safety deposit boxes (hotel rooms), telephones , music , bathrooms with luxurious facilities and verandas with sea or mountain view. This is more than a good hotel. This is the kind of place you end up coming back to every year to see the friends you have made. Inexpensive and family run with a great taverna the hotel is right on the beach at Vatera, which is one of the best beaches in Greece. Owned by Maria and John who are Greek-Canadians who really go out of their way to make sure guests enjoy themselves and take pride in their hotel and the island of Lesvos. There seem to always be English-speaking kids around for ours to play with and that is a plus of course. Vatera and the area around Polychnitou is the most interesting part of Lesvos with hot springs, traditional villages and traditional island products, many of which are available in the hotel. On Saturday nights they have live Greek music and dancing and it can get very festive. They also rent cars to their guests so they can see the whole island. Best of all for the kids they have a trampoline which keeps them more occupied than the sea does. WI-FI FREE INTERNET ALL OVER THE HOTEL...... APHRODITE also has to offer: RESTAURANT - TAVERNA- on the seafront Aphrodite Restaurant - Taverna has a huge selection of traditional Greek food prepared in the traditional lesvos way. The excellent homemade dishes are our mother's recipes ( who runs the kitchen) and are all prepared by our own extra virgin olive oil which we produce ourselves during the winter. Our father grows all the vegetables for the hotel and a large percentage of the fish we serve is also caught by him. ... more   less
