Had lunch here, really lovely food. Good warm real open fire. Food excellent and very tasty. Lovely choice of meals even at lunch. Beer not bad either, with specials available.

Great selection of beers, ciders and good wholesome food served with a smile - great setting with a quiet garden and a great atmosphere, scruffy, genuine, and really old building providing all those things you look for in an old English pub

This is drinkers paradise with the added benefit of offering some of the best non restaurant food for miles. There are up to ten real ales on the go, a handful of farmhouse ciders and still more of the usual staples than offered by most of the local competition. It's housed in a classic old stone property with flagstone floors, a masterpiece timber bar and roaring fires. Little wonder then that it has won loads of CAMRA (and other) awards. The food is refreshingly different to that offered by most pubs and is of real quality. On offer are old classics and other more contemporary dishes, full meals or snacks and of course puddings. They use lots of local suppliers -the sausages are sourced from the village. It' s all homemade so you won't see the meals arriving in a chiller van and they don't over charge. Sunday lunch is great even if it starts and runs late and when dining it's best to book or you might not get a table. There's a great atmosphere here and it's everyone's local. Most people arrive by car so there's no turf war and no turning heads or stares when you walk through the door. Kids are welcome and there is plenty of outdoor space and fab views at the rear from one of the two beer gardens. You won't see a tv, juke box or gaming machine as people come to talk and entertain themselves and there companions. Drinkers and diners mingle happily together in this magic place and if you visit just the once you'll be guaranteed to return again and again.
