I went to the same party and the gentleman in question, arrived 30 minutes late, in a foul mood.
Starters arrived not long after being ordered, yes we did wait a little longer than normal for our mail, but the pub was very busy, and we didn't mind waiting anyway. the staff we're very helpful dinner was lush. and i feel it's wrong to put something on this site which was highly exagerated just because he was in a foul mood.

Sticking to the facts only... On the 14th of April 2012 as part of a birthday group, we ordered a meal which took 2hrs to arrive.. Seriously 2 hours to arrive.. When the meal finally arrived which was supposed to be a pork roast it was three thin slices of pork that had been reheated in a microwave. It would have been thicker slices had it have been bacon and that is a fact.

To be kept waiting for two hours is ridiculous... To be offered food that had been reheated in a microwave is just un acceptable.

I would never eat here again.... Ever...

Popped in for a mid-week lunch with my mum-in- law and my three year old daughter. Two roaring log fires and a friendly welcome. Ample parking. You can eat in the bar area or in the more formal dining area. We chose to eat in the bar and made our selection from the midweek menu. We were very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and the portion size. The homemade smoked haddock and spring onion fish cakes were as good as any I’ve tasted and the homemade thick cut chips are to die for! Don’t go if you’re on a diet! My daughter was given colouring to do and generally made a fuss of. There’s a good children’s menu and smaller cutlery is provided upon request. Plenty of homemade desserts on offer if you’ve got any room left and a decent cappuccino!
Will definitely go back.

In December, it fell to me to arrange a Christmas lunch celebration for some of our village – we arrange a Christmas lunch for those who are self-employed in the village so they don’t miss out. We were a party of 20 guests and had been given the choice of:
Traditional Roast Somerset Turkey
Roast Topside of Beef
Red Snapper
Mushroom & Cranberry Brie Wellington

Christmas Pudding with Brandy Sauce
Double Chocolate Gateaux
Eton Mess Strawberry Cheesecake

The price was £9.95 per head.

The Old Barn Owl did a superb job and both the quality of the food and generous portions exceeded all of our expectations and was excellent with the exception of the carrots which had been slightly over cooked.

With wine and coffee afterwards the price worked out at £16.00 per head . Quite how they do it for the price I really don’t know and then our guests were then given a £5 voucher of a dinner for two!

It goes without saying that the self-employed Stocklinch Christmas Lunch in December 2012 will be held at the Old Barn Owl again.

This pub had been recommended to us by various friends so we decided to give it a try. It's very easy to find and has plenty of parking. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The decor is fine, but a little old style but overall the oub is welcoming. The food prices are exceptional . 1 course £6.95, 2 courses £7.95 and 3 courses £9.95. We couldn't manage a pudding! Food is very typical of what you would expect of a traditional country pub. wholesome and tasty. It's not Nouvelle cusine, but doesn't pretend to be. Drinks are reasonably priced and there is a reasonable wine list.

For those who seek entertainment, this is a pub that has various shows and acts on offer. They have a resident Jazz Band on Sundays, then various other acts each month often Tibute Acts such as The Everly Bros, Rod Stewart, Michael Buble, Robbie Williams etc. Tickets are £20 a head and this includes a two-course meal - so excellent value for money again.

In summary, A pub that offers a very warm welcome, excellent value and friendly, helful staff.
