We were originally going to try and find Ristorante Taverna De Tommy however as another review has said, we couldn't find it either! We followed a sign towards a no through road and did not find anything at the end.
Il Girasole on the other hand was well signposted and easy to find. It is a large building and looks very nice from the outside. The space inside however, is quite odd. It is a large circular room with a high ceiling, and the tables are laid across the whole space. In one corner is a bar and across the other side there is a counter for paying and a serving hatch which is open into the kitchen. They seemed to offer takeaway pizza too, from what we could gather.
The lighting is very bright, and because the space is so open it unfortunately lends itself to a sort of community-centre-cum-canteen style feel. There are no partition walls or nooks and crannies with soft lighting that could give the place a more intimate feel. There were locals eating in there, including some big parties.
I very much enjoyed my salmone pasta dish, however my husband was not so keen on his pizza. It seemed to be a pizza base topped with mozzarella (apparently minimal tomato though) and then it had some rocket salad and prosciutto tossed over the top. I actually thought it looked really nice, however my husband's verdict was that it was like eating cheese on toast with salad on the top. Service was average and the price was pretty reasonable, but I don't think we'd go back owing to the slightly weird atmosphere.
