Valentino and his staff were very helpful and friendly. We stayed 4 days here, and they were very accommodating with directions, breakfast, and even shown how to make cannoli from Enza!

Perched on the top of the hill, Castiglione di Sicilia is a stunning medieval location. Go back in time and stay at this beautiful B&B and soak up the true Sicilian atmosphere. Watch the Etna smokes everyday, you are quite safe to stay here and perfectly located to tour all eastern end of Sicily. You must have a car. Palemo and the west end is just too far. Valentino (an Italian waiter from Wigan) and his team provide excellent personalised service. Nothing is too much trouble. They even home-made my husband's 60's birthday cake! Rooms are very spacious, comfortable and cool, with a balcony to soak up the view. Never mind the rating - this is a five-star B&B. We stayed for two weeks and would go back to meet the lovely villagers again and again. Try the Restaurant President for dinner, but pizza only on Saturdays. Local market, shops, bakeries, ice creams, cheeses and salami are all recommended.

Lovely bed & breakfast located in the quite town of Castiglione di Sicilia above Taormina. We went 1st to 8th May, although a bit rainy the first couple of days, it soon cleared up and we had glorious weather for the rest of the week. Rooms are big with comfortable beds and nice furniture with plenty of wardrobe space and a chest of drawers. TV and coffee making in our room with a lovely clean en-suite bathroom. We had a balcony big enough for us both to sun bathe on too! Breakfast is self-service buffet and was very good, Guiseppe makes a good cappuccino! The owner, Mr Valentino was very helpful and told us the best places to eat locally and down in Taormina. All the staff are very friendly, relaxed and helpful. The best beaches are at Mazzaro, otherwise known as Taormina Mare, Letojanni, Isola Bella and Naxos. All are easy drive by car with parking available. Our favourite is probably Mazzaro as you can park all day for a few euros and get the cable car upto Taormina centre and have a look around all the shops when the sun goes down. Fantastic views from the piazza in town, if you havent been to Taormina yet put it on your list.... It really is one of the most beautiful places in the world. We had some great day trips to Siracuse and Catania. In summary a fanistic holiday, very good value for money at the santa caterina, we paid just 20 euros each B & B per night. Its about 5 times that much to stay in Taormina town so well worth the 20 minute drive. Incidentally Taormina isn't expensive for meals etc its just the hotel prices that are steep. We had amazing pizza for 6 euros, cheap really. Would definately reccommend this B & B as it is small, friendly and very nice. Romantic too. Can't wait to go back.

This is a great option for folks who have a car. Its location in an authentic Sicilian town with friendly folks and impressive historical sites is a quick drive (10-25 mins) from a number of great places (Mt. Etna, Gole D'Alcantara, Giardini Naxos, Taormina, etc.). It's operated by very friendly owners and staff who provide lots of good information for tourists about the local area and spots to visit.

We stayed at B&B Caterina for a night. We didnt expect this B&B to be so nice.Castiglione di sicilia is lovely small town. You can easily reach the Etna North from here. But i would recommend Etna South to the people who are planning a trip to Etna. The B&B has a dinner for an extra 13 euro (starter, main dish, dessert and wine). The breakfast was also good. I would definitely recommend a stay in this B&B and in this town.

In the structure, you can still admire the cellars for storing wine, olive oil and nuts, the old barn and other structures once used by farmers. Today the old winery has become a lovely breakfast room, with characteristic terracotta floors and brick arches, where breakfast is served a rich breakfast buffet with a wide selection of local products. The rooms are all built in a rustic style with wooden beams, are all equipped with private bathroom and a balcony with panoramic views. The terraces are a true paradise thanks to native plants, the vintage jars, the beautiful landscape.
