Our host at Agriturismo Fondo Chipollate recommended this restaurtant and we were really pleased with it. It's quite an adventure driving up to this beautiful hilltop town, with steep sinuous roads, and we made a wrong turn when we got into the center so with our little Italian phrase book we asked for directions of several men standing on the corner. One of them jumped in his car and told us to follow him. That was the third time we've had such help from a Sicilian! The restaurant itself is in a lovely little piazza way at the top near a little church. A former wine store, it has a very low key, local atmosphere and just a few indoor tables - there is also an outdoor section but it seemed a bit chilly at night. We sat at a wall lined with wine bottles, and really enjoyed the local wine that the waitress recommended. The food had a great home-cooking essence. We had learned by that time that we can't each eat an entire menu of appetizer, primi and secondi, so because we shared several dishes and we got to enjoy a good sampling and not overstuff ourselves. The other patrons were Italians.

Found this one afternoon while wandering through the shabby chic town and stopped for coffee and Gelato, vowing to return. The restaurant is located in a small attractive square.

We returned two nights later, and sat outside. We were the only ones there, but the service was friendly and relaxed, attentive but not overbearing. The restaurant is a family affair with mother cooking.

The food reflected local fare and the mixed antipasto was a sheer delight and shouldn't be missed. The main courses were simple, well cooked and again very tasty as was the dessert. The house red wine, again local, was so good we bought a bottle from the shop.

And not only was the meal the best we experienced on the holiday, it was good value too. Don't miss it.

Just stumbled across this lovely restaurant on a walk through very pretty and atmospheric Castiglione di Sicilia. Wish we had been more often! The restaurant was great for lunch and dinner. Really good antipasti and local dishes. No problems for vegetarians. A wide selection of wines from cheap but pleasant local stuff to rather more expensive connoisseur type wine. Well done the owners!

Stumbled on this restaurant by chance as we were wandering round Castiglione. They offer a range of dishes in a beautiful outdoor setting in a square. The pasta with anchovy is the best I have had. Delicate and full of flavour. Service quick and friendly. Great wine list and you can buy the wines from inside. Price is ridiculously low for what you get. Fantastic place and will return next time I am in the region.

Been there last sunday with my family and discovered it by chance, it has been a pleasant surprise.. They have an outdoor patio in Castiglione centre beautiful small square among old palazzos and in a very quiet old time ambiance. The owners are a young couple very kind and eager to please you. You have a large selection of local Sicilian wines, I recommend the very good ETNA DOC wine, they have several kinds of it for all budgets. The typical local food is great and you can literally have a full meal - if you can - spending no more than 15 euros per person. I suggest not to miss the platter of local home made antipasti, ranging from local vegetables to cheeses and salami; not to miss is pasta al pistacchio (pistachio fresh pasta) and if you are are fed up of fish this is the place to have a mixed platter of local grilled meat (only 7 euros per person!!!) with lamb, pork and local sausage. So if you are sightseeing the area and Etna wineries area around Mount East side Etna, this is the place to stop for a nice lunch, only 35 minutes drive from Taormina .
