Searching for an idyllic Tuscan venue to celebrate our 30th anniversary with 10 of our dearest friends, we discovered the Castello. It does not disappoint... set on a lovely hilltop between Montespertoli and Castelfiorentino the Villa and estate are simply beautiful, with every vista a postcard from under the Tuscan sun (and moon). The historic property has been lovingly restored by the owners with modern updates that integrate most tastefully. The gorgeous dining room easily accommodated our group, and we enjoyed local cuisine prepared by the staff, as well as several visits by our old friend Chef Andrea from Siena. All of our crew are "cooks and bakers" and we enjoyed doing our own thing, from shopping local to grilling and prep in the Villa kitchen.
On the days we weren't sightseeing we enjoyed relaxing at the Limonaia and pool- with glasses of the superb Cabbiavoli Chianti at hand.
The bedrooms and baths are all unique and tastefully decorated. The living room, common areas Tower and library are replete with fine art and period pieces as well as family mementos.
The staff on site, Simona and Cristy are first class, and a real asset to the Villa experience.
Ginevra and Alessandra can accommodate your questions and help arrange tours, transport, restaurants and special requests-- they really make it easy and simple.
Our guests described this experience as the "trip of a lifetime"... and we will return with our kids and grandkids. Bravo and well and truly done- Grazie.
PS- Bring your binoculars. The area is rich in wildlife and is a birdwatchers paradise. We saw a rare 'short toed snake eagle', cuckoo's, snipe and pheasants. Rent a sturdy SUV and explore the countryside.
