Oriel Country Hotel & Spa
Ranked #2 of 2 Hotels in St. Asaph

Stayed for two nights mid week.We found the staff very helpful. The room and bathroom were very clean and spacious. Lovely clean linen and fluffy towels. We had continental breakfast in the hotel which was in the price, if you want full English it was only £4 extra.
The hotel was very central to visit the coast and the lovely country side.
The hotel had a lovely spa and swimming pool, we didn't use it as we were not there long enough
It is well worth a visit if you are in that area.

Room Tip: All rooms seem to have good views from the windows

We stayed in this hotel on a Groupon deal (Room 105) and had a nice relaxing time. The room itself was large and had everything you would need for your stay, including ironing board & iron, hairdryer, toiletries, free wifi, tea & coffee etc. The staff were friendly and attentive and made us feel right at home. I agree with some of the comments on here that it looked a little tired and in need of a lick of paint in parts but, hey, that's like nearly every hotel I've ever stayed at! Would recommend and return for a further visit x

Room Tip: Ask for a ground floor room

My partner and I stayed at the Oriel House Hotel in February 2014 for 2 nights in a superior room. Upon arrival we were pleased. The room was nice, very clean and spacious with neutral decor and high ceilings and a big flat screen sony tv. I was pleasantly surprised with the complimentary hot chocolate in the room and the miniature toiletries and sewing kit etc. the beds were comfortable although I did notice our 'king' or 'queen' size bed (as advertised) was actually two singles pushed together, it didn't make much difference though I'm a terrible sleeper and I slept ok. We stayed in room 105 and found it to be quite quiet. The shower was very powerful and the bathroom was clean.
We were really pleased with the breakfast, there's loads of choice, cereals, fruit, toast, yogurts, pastries, meats, cheeses and a few cooked options which are very good and would definitely recommend. The dinner menu isn't huge but the chef seems to be very good and we enjoyed all our meals here.
The pool is not huge and I can imagine would feel a little crowded at busy times however there were only a few others when we visited. The sauna seats 2 so you may need to wait, however it was nice to have it to ourselves.
We really enjoyed and would recommend the massages, very reasonably priced and good value. We booked via a Groupon deal and got 15% off of our treatments which was another nice surprise.
St Asaph is a good location, with it being not far from Betws y Coed and Snowdonia National Park it's great for walking and outdoor pursuits and it's not too far from M6 & M5 with stunning routes in between. Overall, if we were to go back to St Asaph I would stay here again.

Received a two night stay as a gift.

On arrival the hotel appears modern and clean however a number of the rooms and spa facilities were tired and dated. However we did notice signs stating, under new management.

Ate in the restaurant on the first night, my partner had the oriel burger and I had the pie of the day. However my partner left the majority of her meal as the meat tasted cheap processed and wasn't very pleasant. The pie of the daywas significantly better and on finishing the meal we did notify the manager of our comments.

The staff were friendly and helpful and the hotel is a good base for visiting the area.

With some further improvements this could be a good hotel.

We stayed at this hotel Friday and Saturday for our daughter's wedding on the 11th January 2014. We were pleasantly surprised at the size of the room. Our room was very light and airy. The only thing we found not working was the towel rail in the bathroom but as soon as we reported this we were given extra towels and the rail was repaired the next day so it was no hardship. The family dinner was excellent for the adults but there wasn't really anything for our grandchildren aged 4, 5 and 7 so they ended up going for a pizza. Prices were a little high but no more than any other hotel. The 2 breakfasts were excellent and as with all the meals they were generous portions.

The wedding itself ran like clockwork from the ceremony to the reception the staff were there helping things along. The food at the wedding was again excellent and everyone mentioned the red cabbage!

Unfortunately we didn't get time to sample the spa but our grandsons did go swimming twice with their dad and really enjoyed it. The only downside for them was that the depth of the pool was the same all around and neither boys could touch the bottom of the pool but this kept their dad on his toes.

This hotel surpassed expectations and we would recommend it.

Room Tip: Take plenty to keep young children occupied.

We stayed 10/11th January, The food throughout was excellent, Family dinner, 2 breakfasts & wedding reception. The eggs in particular which were sourced I believe from their own chickens. The rooms were fairly standard, high ceilings which gave the impression of space on the ground floor rooms, bed not the most comfortable, the bathroom was a good size, but with 2 light bulbs out in the bedroom & 1 out in the bathroom I found most annoying, however when we mentioned this the Duty manager offered to change our room immediately. & housekeeping could do with going round with a feather duster to get rid of the cobwebs outside.
On the plus side all the staff which we came into contact with were friendly, very helpful & efficient, especially the Duty Manager.
Nice location for a wedding, bar a bit pricey!

Room Tip: Ground floor rooms were cooler, upper rooms had lower ceilings
