“Relaxing and clean”
Reviewed April 22, 2013 via mobile

Our visit was booked on a Groupon deal - we stayed 20.4.13 - 22.4.13 and absolutely loved our stay! We upgraded our room also to a deluxe room and it was beautiful! There was a wedding on and we never heard a thing, not even any other guests! Staff were very friendly and helpful, the food was delicious and they even accomodated me on a change of filling on my meal that was not on the menu! Definitely worth the money! A perfect birthday treat for each other! I would definitely recommend it and I would definitely stay again! Massive thumbs up from us!

We booked to stay at the Oriel using a KGB discount voucher so were a little bit apprehensive about what it might be like. However, we upgraded to the deluxe room for an extra £25 so hoped we might not have too much to worry about. We were thrilled with everything about our stay and can't recommend the hotel highly enough. We had to re-arrange the trip twice (kids and illness, sigh..) and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. The hotel was spotless; the room was fab, huge with a really comfy bed. We didn't hear a peep from other guests despite there being a wedding on! The food was lovely and there was plenty to eat for breakfast.
The hotel is a brilliant base for exploring and we will definitely return.

Stayed here for a couple of days for a short break; recommended by sister who lives nearby. We were upgraded to a superior room. It was large and spacious with a 6' bed. Everything was clean and tidy. The staff were superb, nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was very good and freshly cooked to order with a good selection of cereal, fruit, yoghurts and juices. The only slight black mark was that there were no natural yoghurts. Otherwise a great well run hotel.

A very enjoyable break. Although we were on a ‘deal’ for a couple of days we had upgraded to an executive room –which was large, light and extremely pleasant all round. Comfortable bed, nice, large, bathroom, good t.v. etc. We peered into a number of other rooms – all seemed more than acceptable. As there was a wedding evening on one night we also got to see the bridal suite –looked more than acceptable!

The hotel had the feel of having had a bit of money spent on it recently – all areas of the interior were nice, very clean (although some water/damp in one of the corridors which was being attended to). There is plenty of parking (you’ll need this as the hotel is a little way out of town), but the exterior grounds of the hotel aren’t anything special (no real views). We used the swimming pool and spa facilities –good without being spectacular.

Like others we ate in the hotel a couple of nights – we would describe it as being good but not exceptional. Reasonably priced but drinks in the bar incredibly expensive. Breakfast again fine, although they seemed to run out of some basics (like bread and plates!). As others, we found all the staff exceptionally friendly and helpful a real bonus for the hotel. There is a lovely conservatory to relax in with your drink, and newspapers to read.

All in all this was good experience. We would certainly stay again if we were in the area – but not if we had to pay the ‘rack rate’ which we felt would have been overpriced. For what we paid (£50 per night B&B), however, it was very hard to complain.

Nice hotel and extremely friendly and accommodating staff. It is definitely worth paying extra to get one of the superior rooms. I felt it was quite pricey for a 4 star as have paid about the same for much better 5 star hotels, however there isn't really any other hotel of similar quality nearby.

I stayed here last weekend for 2 nights with my boyfriend. We were very pleased as we were due to stay in a Superior Room but were given a Deluxe Room. The room was large, light and comfortable. The bed was extremely comfortable. The whole room was spotless with a lovely bathroom as well.

The service we received from all staff was faultless. The hotel was a lovely base for exploring North Wales. We visited Llandudno on a couple of occasions.

On the second day we both had a massage. A lady called Nicola did my treatment and I must say it was the best massage I have ever had. All staff at the Spa were also very friendly and professional.

The only downside is that we originally went here with plans to have a whole day relaxing by the pool, in the sauna etc and have a proper 'spa day.' We could not do this as there were lots of kids splashing around in the pool which made it very overcrowded, especially if you just want to relax around the pool with a book! I also think the pool area is in need of renovating to make it more tranquil. We chose to use the pool in the evening instead when it was really quiet!

I would definitely recommend this hotel for a nice relaxing break in a nice area, but don't go if you want a typical spa break as it is more of a hotel.

Overall, we had a great time and I still didn't want to leave!

Room Tip: Definitely go for a deluxe room.

One fault no full length mirror but main fault walls seem very thin, heard every word from next door. Woken at 2am by noisy wedding guests in corridor outside our room so be aware that there are often weddings at this hotel. The Continental Buffet Breakfast here is excellent .They also supply diabetic maralade and jam as well as the usual. We would stay here again.
