Swimming outdoors in the warm waters of this spa, go in January/February when you'll be surrounded by deep snow and feeling as comfortable as in your own bath. When I went it was actually snowing, and almost surreal

Hot springs and beautiful scenery in the mountains. It cannot get any better than this!

The pool is very large and there are lots of facilities, but the surroundings are really glum and the restaurant soso.

Having been once before to Lavey-les-Bains, a trip mid-skiing holiday was a must for my friends and I.

For a very reasonable price (CHF25) you get 3 hours time to access the thermal baths. You get given a key card which lets you through and also works in your locker. Changing facilities were very clean when we visited with ample lockers. We did queue for the toilet before we showered but it wasn't really for that long. After showering we put our towels in a large shelving rack whilst we went in the pools etc.
There is one indoor and two outdoor naturally heated pools. We mainly used the large outdoor pool which has several features including water fountains, jacuzzi's, a whirlpool and an area to sit/lie back under the water and be pummelled with water jets.
We also used the hammam (a steam room) and the sensory room (a timetabled room with approx 10 chairs. Every 20 minutes a different sequence of music is played - the time slots are colour coded so you can choose a specific mood of music).

Overall a very enjoyable and relaxing experience. Off course if you wish you can purchase additional treatments.

We travelled by train to St Maurice. If doing this I would recommend getting bus for CHF3. It is possible to walk but is better signed from Lavey to St Maurice rather than vice versa. It is about a 30min walk.
