Owner description: A chance for you to fly a hawk around the spectacular grounds of Ashford Castle in a private one hour Hawk Walk. No-one ever forgets the moment when their hawk first swoops down from a tree to land on their gloved fist - Flying a hawk is an experience of a lifetime!

We stumbled upon the Falconry School as we roved the grounds of Ashford Castle. Just go round the castle to the right and follow the signs.

They took a tour request on the spot. We had 3 people and did the hawk walk and it was EXTRAORDINARY. Laura was very informative, an engaging guide and lots of fun. The tour started with very informative and fascinating introductions to the birds they have, how they hunt and fly, how they act in the wild and how they behave at the school. It continues with some information on feeding and how to fly the hawks, and the bulk of the time is spent walking through the gorgeous, forested grounds and flying the hawks.

An amazing unique experience. MUST NOT MISS. Go go go go go you will not regret it ever!

The title says it all. A total amazing experience in one of the most stunning places in all of Ireland. The flying of our hawks was very easy and seemed very natural. We immediately felt at home and welcome from our guide Justin, who introduced us to Rua and Killary, our hawks for the day. Justin was always at the ready to take our picture at exactly the right moments, and was incredibly knowledgeable about the birds. Not only were we totally entertained the entire time, but we were pleased to learn (and see for ourselves) that the staff is totally committed to these incredible animals well-being and happiness.
Thanks Justin, we had a blast and we learned a lot as well.

Go for a Hawk Walk. This was an AMAZING experience where you will release hawks and call them back to you as you walk through the grounds of Ashford Castle. It's an experience you will not forget!

What an experience! This was one of the most amazing things we've ever done and will not soon be forgotten. Definately the highlight of our trip to Ireland.
Just walking along the trail to get to the school is beautiful, then when yu reach the gates your made to feel so very welcome. Our guide was very friendly and informative and made everyone feel very comfortable. The birds are gorgeous and watching them fly is breathtaking. I recommend this to everyone!

My husband and I got to fly Aztec and Chico, two juvenile Harris hawks being raised at the School of Falconry. Our, Connal, guide was very knowledgeable and friendly, and gave us a tour of the facility before taking us on our walk. We got to meet some of the other resident hawks and falcons, as well as Dingle, a beautiful and majestic owl.

During the walk itself, we got to see Chico and Aztec in action -- both of them intelligent, curious birds with tons of personality. The grounds we went through were lush and beautiful, and it would have been a lovely walk even without the hawks to accompany us.

This was a wonderful experience, and well worth going to Cong to do.
