This was a nice place to walk around and take in the history of this Abby. To think of what went on inside when it was occupied.

We visited the Abbey ruins on a recent trip to Cong. Very pretty spot. We especially liked the fishing spot for the Monks, where the fishing line would have been linked to a bell in the kitchen :-)Plenty of people fishing there today still.

If you are in the Cong, don't miss visiting the Abby. The ruins are very cool and there are some beautiful celtic cross grave markers. Stop by the monk's fishing hut while you are there. You'll probably see some folks fishing and then you can walk over to the nature trails and have a peaceful walk.

Parking I free and there is no cost to walk through it, they are even doing some repair work but don't expect a lot. The last high king of Ireland is buried here. The scenery around it is beautiful though and you can always do the John Wayne tour walk. Don't miss the little monk fishing hut over on the river the spot is fantastic for pictures.
