Parking I free and there is no cost to walk through it, they are even doing some repair work but don't expect a lot. The last high king of Ireland is buried here. The scenery around it is beautiful though and you can always do the John Wayne tour walk. Don't miss the little monk fishing hut over on the river the spot is fantastic for pictures.

Very old and interesting ruins of a church destroyed by Cromwell in the 1600's, lots of interesting views

If you are interested in history, you'll love the Abbey. If you'd rather go for a walk, you'll love the Abbey because there is a beautiful trail system (up to 3.5 miles) right next to the Abbey.

Took some great photos at the Abbey. Seems to be a hotspot for youngsters after hours- we encountered some teens drinking beer.

We stumbled on this during a walk from Ashford Castle. It is like so many other parts of Ireland that have a rich history. Little information is presented at the site but worth wandering around. Be sure to go out the back of the Abbey (Away from town) and walk down to the water where you will find the Monk's Fishing Bridge and Fishing House. Only about a minutes walk from the Abbey.
