We have just returned from a fantastic 3 night stay midweek stay at Lisloughrey Lodge. We stayed with our toddler and 3 month old baby. We booked a duplex suite which had a bedroom upstairs and downstairs was a little sitting room. ( Sofa, TV, opening out on to a small little patio area). It was perfect as we could watch some TV once the little ones were asleep. There were some gingerbread cookies and some DVD's for our toddler in our room on arrival. This was a lovely touch.
Breakfast was perfect each morning, a nice selection on the cold buffet and plated hot breakfast. We had an enjoyable meal in the bar on one night, the food and service were really good.
The hotel decor is a little quirky, lots of candles, it is a little dark but this adds to the ambiance of the hotel.
Cong is a lovely village, it was great to be able to leave the car walk into the village. We also went on a lake trip on Lough Corrib, this leaves a short distance away from Ashford Castle.
I can honestly say we loved everything about this hotel and are already planning our return visit.

Stayed here recently after reading the good reviews on Tripadvisor. Have to say, was disappointed. The first room we were in was very dark, that was really down to our choice of room, when we changed rooms, we got a lovely bright room. Because we have two very small kids, we almost always have our dinners to the room in whatever hotel we stay in. Prior to making our booking, we checked if it was ok to get the restaurant food to the room in the evenings if possible. The girl we dealt with went off and checked for us and phoned back to say that yes, it was possible to order the restaurant food to the room. However, when we got to the hotel, we were told by staff that the restaurant isn’t opened Monday to Wednesday, and it’s only opened some Thursdays if there is a wedding on the Friday. This meant we were left to order from the bar menu. I have to say, I was really annoyed as we had specifically asked beforehand and there was no mention of the restaurant not being open midweek. Even if we had just been going here as a couple, without kids, I would want to be able to go the restaurant in the evening time. Had we known this, we would not have gone to the hotel, it would have been a definite deal breaker for us! We were told the bar menu was extensive, it didn’t seem that way and the food was just nice, nothing too extravagant but then it was just a bar menu. Having said that, our room was beautiful and kept really clean, the hotel is gorgeous as are the grounds, the staff are really lovely and helpful, I would give 5 stars on those basis alone. However, I have to be realistic, as it wouldn’t suit everyone to stay in a hotel midweek with no restaurant open. It’s a shame we didn’t know beforehand.

I'm a little wary of glowing reviews and imagine that somewhere in a small office is the hotel manager writing a stunning review but I'm struggling to give Lisloughrey anything but a glowing tribute. We first visited Lisloughrey for my brother-in-laws 40th birthday and just had to go back on our own to see if it was everything we had remembered. Oh, what a joy. We live just 40 minutes away in Galway city but you feel like you could be a million miles away from the city. As we got closer i could feel my shoulders start to drop and by the time we left they were on the floor. We were there for two days and I'd like to say we filled it with plenty of activities but to be honest we did nothing but chill. Our room was named St Estephe and it was beautiful with a view all the way down to Lough Corrib. Over two days we left the hotel only twice for a walk through the grounds of Ashford Castle next door. The rest of the time we spent relaxing, reading, chatting, eating and yes we had the odd glass of wine or two! The only downside was that the main restaurant in the hotel "Salt" was closed as it was a Sunday-Monday night and it would have been lovely to eat there having looked at the menu online but the food in their downstairs bar-restaurant was very good. If you get an opportunity to dine in their main restaurant then I'd grab the chance. The staff are lovely and even showed us how to use the Wii games console in their dedicated Wii room. Will we be back? definitely. Just as soon as I can organize a break. David & Joann, Galway.

We went to Lisloughery for a chillout break, some luxury and relaxation and boy did we find it! From the moment we arrived we felt like we had come home. Staff could not do enough to make our stay more perfect. Our bedroom was super stylish and fitted out with every luxury that you can think of. The bed, oh the bed was so cosy with really luxurious bed linen. And it was not just all style - the cuisine delivers on substance - their executive chef is at the top of his game. The locally sourced produce, the innovative style and superb presentation made every mouthful a little taste of heaven. Lisloughery is the perfect place to escape from the real world - we abandoned the car and snuggled in by real turf fires, took long walks in grounds of Ashford Castle and it was just topped off with a sprinkling of snow to turn the place into a picture postcard. I can not wait to get back to Lisloughrey - a truly special place!
