We stayed on a 3 night package in August at a really attractive rate including 3 nights bed & breakfast, 1 dinner in the formal dining room,Wilde's Restaurant and another dinner in the hotel's bar, The Quay Bar. The hotel is now called Lisloughrey Lodge Hotel and sits close to the water, overlooking Lough Corrib.
The room was good and comfortable, well serviced throughout our stay. The bar is decent, not a pub experience and has more of a 'drawing room' ambience spread over a number of rooms of the original lodge building, but is good for an after dinner drink etc. One minor irritant is that the bar is very brightly lit, too many lights!
The real winner in Lisloughrey is the amazing food served up by the chef, Jonathan Keane, and his team. The dining experience in Wilde's restaurant is just brilliant. We had dinner here on 2 nights and on both occasions I opted for the Beef & Guiness for mains. This was a piece of flank beef from the shoulder that had been braised for 4 hours plus, served up with a Guinness reduction, sitting on top of a nettle risotto. It was simply superb! My partner had home salted cod on one night which was also amazing. Deserts and starters were equally as good.
Service throughout our stay was top notch, local and friendly.
The hotel has also included a boat trip on Lough Corrib as well as tickets to Kylemore Abbey and we really enjoyed both also. There are numerous activities available in the extended locality.
We cant wait to go back and if you like really good food, Jonathan Keane and his colleagues at Lisloughrey Lodge are more than worth a visit.
