We stayed here two nights for a wedding. The property--shared with Ashford Castle--is beautiful, though the room was average. Our first-floor room shared a small corridor with another, and the guests and staff were very noisy entering and exiting the neighboring door.

The breakfast buffet in the hotel's restaurant was good, but the service (for coffee and toast) was very slow one morning. Dinner at Cullen's at the Cottage nearby made up for it--good service and fantastic food.

We were disappointed that the hut tub was not hot when we visited. Otherwise, the property was beautiful. Cong is a short ride away. We parked at the abbey, explored the nature trails and walked through town. The grounds around Ashford Castle are also worth a visit.

If you're looking for a hotel (rather than a B&B) in Cong, this may be your best choice given its affordability compared to Ashford Castle.

My partner and I recently stayed at the hotel. Initially I found it really hard to book. First time I rang there was no ans. 2nd time I rang someone took my number to ring me back, after an hour I rang again to be told again they would ring me back! Absolute joke! Only for it was a surprise for my partner that loved the property I would never haved booked it.
Got there at 2:30 and was very curtly told that we could not check in until 3pm. No 'Welcome, how are you'...just very rudely told to come back later. Had a drink at the bar. Came back at 3pm and told the room was not ready. The had a wedding the night before and were really busy. We were told it would take a 'few' minutes for the room. After an half hour of sitting in reception, the room was still not ready and we were rudely told to once again wait. We went to the bar and waited for another while and eventually at 4:30 I asked again about the room as no one bother to come near us to tell us it was ready!
Absolute disaster of a check in. I complained to the manager, who was very apologetic. We were offered a bottle of wine at dinner.
Food is lovely. Staff in both the bar and restaurant are very nice. Room was very nice. A few things were damaged in the room. And there was a really small 21" TV - which was disappointing.
All in all, it was a very disappointing experience. We will never go back there...pity as we were thinking it would be nice to have our wedding there next year but after that experience, there is no way I would book the place!

Our stay was as good as it gets.....The staff were terrific. From the welcoming tones of Saskia (Reservations) right through to the cleaning staff, the waiting staff and everyone involved in making our stay such a memorable experience. The food was of an exceptional quality which is testament to the skills of the brilliant chef (On leaving I heard that he has been nominated for a prestigious award ... No Wonder!).Whilst it is hugely important that the food is of a high standard, the serving of it makes the experience and a massive amount of credit must go to the restaurant manager Jorg,(I hope I have the correct spelling)and his team for the professionalism and attention to detail. On an observation level I fail to comprehend manchesterkev's review where he was less than complimentary about the gourmet evening as surely if you are going to write a review about such an evening then before doing so, you would learn to spell the word gourmet!! The rooms we were allocated were extremely spacious and without question of 5 Star quality. The ambiance of the place was great and it was just bliss for our 3 day stay. The location was terrific and even though there was a wedding on the Wednesday of our stay, you would hardly have noticed, given how the hotel is expertly managed.
This is a place that we will definitely be returning to as the only mistake we made was we didn’t book it for long enough……This is what you would accurately describe as a luxurious and relaxing 5 Star holiday
