“Make the Trip from Galway! Come to Cong!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 13, 2014

My wife and I came here twice while on our Honeymoon in Ireland. Along with Jam in Killarney, the Hungry Monk was our favorite restaurant while visiting Ireland. Honestly, I lived in Ireland for 6 months and I can think of a no more relaxing and wonderful spot than the Hungry Monk. After touring the next-door ruined abbey and the miles of forest that Cong has to offer, my wife and I stopped in on the advice of one of the town locals we met on the walk.

The food there is wonderful, but what really makes this place special is the atmosphere and the employees. The atmosphere they create is unlike any place I've been able to find here in the US, and for this being a breakfast/lunch location, that is incredibly difficult to pull off, but they do it flawlessly.

Do yourself a favor, visit the Hungry Monk the next time you are near Cong!

“Lovely cafe and good food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 12, 2014

Myself and husband had a snack in the Hungary Monk Café recently, after taking a lovely walk in the woods in the town.
The food was very nice.
Staff were extremely pleasant.
The décor was good also.

“Delicious!”

Locally sourced, delicious food at a great price. We had sandwiches on Bla bread, a delicious potato and lovage soup, and a scrumptious apple berry crumble.

“Well fed at the monk”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 2, 2014

Had a lovely breakfast here, lovely sausages and black pudding in a fresh Blah washed down by a nice cuppa. The freshly baked goods on top of the counter looked gorgeous and I will be back, this is a place that takes food and service very seriously.
