I recently travelled to Cong to attend a wedding on the grounds of the nearby castle. I was not willing to pay the asking price for accomodation at the castle or nearby lodge but instead found this gem of a B&B within walking distance of where I was to attend the wedding, and at a very reasonable price.

This is a family-run B&B, with the very welcoming Gerry & Mary at the helm.
Although I only stayed one night, the experience was very pleasant.
The room had all the mod cons I required, with an en suite bathroom. Everything was spotless.
And the bed was very comfortable, too.

The breakfast next morning was top notch - a full Irish breakfast... just what was needed after a wedding the night before!

Gerry & Mary made my stay very comfortable and could not do enough for me. Excellent hosts!
Thanks again. I will be back to your B&B if I am ever down that neck of the woods again!

Mary, the owner, could not be more helpful or hospitable. Its the attention to detail that stands out. There is a small common area beside the rooms with a watercooler and loads of local tourist information laid out, I thought this was a nice touch. Mary herself is a one woman tourist office and she is more than willing provide information relevant to your stay. Rooms are ensuite. They have tea making facilities - not that we needed them - One of the days we came back from a long walk and asked Mary for a spot of fresh milk for tea in our room (don't like UHT milk). Mary insisted that we go to our room and she would bring up a fresh pot of tea and milk. She duly arrived with the tea and biscuits and cake! She gave us tea and scones the evening we arrived too.

The cooked breakfast is epic and there are cereals, fruit, yogurts available too.

We attended a function at Lisloughry lodge. Although less than five minutes drive away it's not really within walking distance in your wedding finery. Mary offered to drive us up, although we did not avail of this I know she did drive another couple up.

The other evening we walked the 5 minutes into Cong village.

This B&B deserves its top rating on trip advisor.

Stayed at this accommodation as part of a motorbike touring holiday with friends, and what an excellent find. Mary was a very welcoming host, friendly and approachable. Rooms were kept to a high standard. Breakfast was more than we could eat which included homemade bread and scones. A large sitting/reading area on the landing was cosy with a good selection of interesting reads to choose from. We were particulary interested in the "Quiet Man" books, which was the main reason we chose Cong as a stopping off place on our tour. Nymphsfield House is approx 10 minutes walking distance to the centre of Cong or 20 minutes using the more scenic back route. We chose the more scenic route, a welcoming relief from sitting on the bike for several hours!! I would definately recommend this B&B to others.

My husband Brian and I have stayed at Nymphsfield on many occasions over several years and I can say that we have never stayed in a better B&B anywhere in the west of Ireland. Our continued returns are testament to the warm and friendly atmosphere, the comfort and cleanliness of the accommodation and the fabulous breakfasts. Nothing is too much trouble for Mary, the proprietor. She is always helpful , recommending places to visit and even making restaurant reservations etc. on request. What more can I say? Stay at Nymphsfield and you will not be disappointed.Great value for money too!

Room Tip: All rooms are spacious and very comfortable though the largest, to the front of the property has bea...

Ronnie and I (from Scotland) found Mary's Nymphsfield House, B & B in year 2001 and have been staying here each May during our visits to fish Loch Corrib. Nymphsfield House is convenient for fishing other loughs including Mask and Carra. Her breakfasts set us up for the day and the 'takeaway' scones she provides see us through the rest of the day. We have met other anglers over the years all of whom became regulars at Nymphsfield House. Being only a few hundred metres from Cong village a short walk takes you to several pubs and restraunts where information about fishing is readily available from anglers both local and visiting. We look on our stay in Nymphsfield House with Mary and family, who we have seen grow up over the years, as part of our annual visit. Our room (always the same one) is well appointed and compares favourably with home. Nothing is too much trouble for Mary during our stay and the welcome is always warm and heartfelt.

We just finished about three weeks of touring Ireland by car, and stayed in every kind of accommodation from a five star hotel to lesser hotels and various B&B's. Nymphsfield House in Cong was by far the most pretty, spacious, restful, cleanest, best maintained accommodation we enjoyed on our trip. Upon arrival, Mary greets you with all the charm and hospitality the Irish are famous for, and were eventually taken to our room, one of five rooms I think, all of which are well appointed, very comfortable, and all with spacious bathrooms. Mary then found out what our plans were, and helped figure out to get around and see the sites in the area. Cong, BTW, is a must see town, IMO, in Ireland. When we would return in the evenings, we would sit in the cozy guest lounge, and mary would come around to see if we would like any tea and snacks, which were also very good. The following mornings we enjoyed an outstanding traditional Irish breakfast that Mary had gotten up early to prepare for us and the other guests. In Mary's B&B, you soon feel like you belong there, a second home, if you will.

If you go to the west side of Ireland and happy to be in the vicinity of Galway, make the effort to go up to Cong, north a bit, enjoy the sites of Cong and the area, the clean air, and the quiet, and meet Mary and enjoy her B&B. You'll be glad you went to the effort. Oh, and I should mention that Mary's pricing for Nymphsfield House is exceptionally good, a far greater value for the experience and facility than anywhere else we stayed on our trip.

Just home from trip to Cong and Nymphsfield House. Mary, the host, not to be confused with purely a proprietor, was a treasure. Nothing too much trouble. Can't really add anything to previous reviews other than to say they're all right. Not just full Irish breakfasts though - fab healthy options including great porridge with healthy trimmings and brown bread (homemade). When you stay check out the phenomenal photography of one of her regular guests, Thomas, which is on display - magnificent! Home away from home- not just a bed and breakfast and that's from someone who usually only stays at hotels having had some scary B&B experiences in the past.
