Description: This traditional thatched cottage provides a relaxed dining experience with a casual dress code in which to enjoy international and local dishes inspired by our owner Beatrice Tollman, including our delicious signature dish 'Chicken Peri Peri'. It is slow cooked in our rotisserie oven in the main dining area, so mouth-watering aromas greet you as soon as you enter the restaurant. At the front of the building you will now discover a beautifully manicured garden and extended patio area proving a spectacular area to enjoy lunch and sip a cocktail and enjoy the magnificent views of Ashford Castle in the distance. Open seasonally, it's just a short stroll over the bridge from the castle. Booking in advance is advisable to avoid disappointment.

This is a nice break from the formality of the Ashford Castle George V dining room. Food quality is excellent and of course the staff and service are at a high standard even when busy.
We enjoyed a meal of lamb shank and salmon with a layered apple and custard dessert served in a small glass pot accompanied by granite' which was to die for.
We have eaten here on several occasions over the years for light or casual alternatives to the formal dining room inside the castle.
The atmosphere is livelier, casual and the thatch roofed building a fun environment.

Dined at Cullen's one evening during our stay at Ashford Castle. The setting is lovely and everything looked and smelled newly refurbished, probably because it only just opened for the season.
The service was friendly, efficient and attentive. Whereby the menu appeared somewhat limited, we very much enjoyed our dinner, the quality of the food was very good and all presented well. It's a nice and more informal setting than the main dining room in the Castle. Will definitely be back when returning to Ashford Castle in the summer.

We stayed at the castle for two nights and were not really satisfied with the food at Cullen's. They are located right on the property of the castle but the food is just okay and the prices are kind of high for what you get. I would suggest going into town for your meals.

Being off season, the Ashford closes the cottage and moves the restaurant into the Dungeon Bar of the hotel. On the night we arrived, we were told the Dungeon was fully booked but we could order from the menu in the Drawing Room, which is the lobby area outside the George V restaurant. We were seated at a lounge table which was a bit too low to enjoy a meal comfortably. There was a man playing a piano when we arrived who was joined later by a guitarist and singer. They performed in the Drawing Room all three nights of our stay. Although a few of the songs were Irish, they also included Johnny Cash and Glen Campbell in their repertoire. For our dinner we shared a goat cheese salad and fried lump crab with glasses of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. We also had dessert which was a chocolate fondue with whipped cream. Our server, who was from the Phillipines, was very nice and attentive.

We arrived for lunch and were told, "we're supposed to be getting a big group, so we have no tables for you - come back in 30 minutes." Normally, you'd expect an apologetic tone or a regretful politeness. Nope.

Then, we decided we'd go into the castle to check out the restaurant. We'd been considering going for dinner as we'd heard there was a good wine list. We were informed it would be €10 just to enter the castle to see the restaurant. Are you kidding me?!

Finally, we went back into Cullens and were seated - apparently the "big group" didn't show. The food we had was excellent, it must be said. Everything was well-prepared, well-presented and delicious.

Zero complaints about the food - and they even had a reasonable by the glass selection of wine. Too bad about that stupid "pay to see the restaurant" thing...
