A sense of awe and calm as you view the amazing setting for the Monks Fishing House. I could spend a whole day sitting and looking at this setting

Interesting remains of an old fishing house. Takes you right into the river and you can just imagine how comfortable and practical this spot was for the monks.

I always enjoy walking into the middle of the river and seeing the Monk’s Fishing House at Cong Abbey. Easily accessible and there is free nearby parking if you don’t come on a weekend. Just watch your step!

The Monks Fishing House in the river is a really great spot. I've been here numerous times. Its an interesting historical place to visit. But more than anything, its just a really beautiful place and well worth a visit if you are in the Cong area.
There is a short narrow walkway onto the house so make sure (especially with kids!) that they don't look down at the river too much when they are crossing. The river can flow very quickly at times and it can be quite disorientating if you watch the flow of the river underneath you on a narrow walkway.

Wanted to stay longer than 15 minutes, but enjoyed the rushing river around me and wondering what it was like back in the 15th century there.
