Great location just a short walk up the hill from boats, so if staying overnight as part of slow boat trip great location....Excellent. Beautiful breakfast and coffee across the road in their bakery cafe. Rooms are clean and nice clean shower and toilet. Paid 400 baht and think its good value. Booked from Chiang khong

As quite every person who makes the slow boat trip to Luang prabang, I was quite nervous about finding the good accomodation after reading a lot of reviews about bug infested guesthouse and worse. And actually, this one was a really good surprise, a good night in a comfy room and a good breakfast before the 2nd day of trip!
We took a double with ensuit bathroom and it was really clean, and quite big so even if I don't know much about the other guesthouses, just don't follow the first guy who try to sell is rooms in the boat or the others on the pier cause Pakbeng is really small and in the town quite all the guesthouses can be reach in less than 2 minutes.

We stayed for one night in this guest-house on our way upriver. The rooms were very basic, beds clean, towels provided, hot water. There were a lot of title ants on the floor (we were in ground floor rooms) so the owner recommended not to leave the bags on the floor. Put them on the chair.
Rooms are small and darkish....but compared to the rest of places to stay in Pakbeng, I really recommend to stay here.
Breakfast across the street (free choice), very good quality.
Friendly owner.
If you are hungry for dinner, I recommend a small Indian restaurant on the left side going down to the river. Tasty Indian food and friendly owner. (I know it sounds odd eating Indian in Laos, but after a long trip through Laos we just need something else:)

Room Tip: Try the upstairs rooms, downstairs you feel a bit exposed to the street.

We had a lovely stay at this guesthouse while enrout to Luang Prabang. Our room was clean, had a comfortable bed, hot shower, towels and had a complimentary bottle of water. No mosquito net required. They have power all night long with no outage. The owner is really pleasant and hospitable and made us feel really welcome.

This place is well priced, we paid 50,000 kip / 200 baht for a double fan room with ensuite.

As a bonus they offer free Wi-Fi to their guests. They signal comes from their bakery across the street. The Wi-Fi is on until 11pm.

The Mosavan bakery across the street is a nice place for a beer (10,000 kip). They also serve up a nice breakfast and have a coffee machine and serve up a pretty good latte. This is also a perfect spot to order a few take away sandwiches for your slowboat trip. The sandwiches are 10,000 kip each and they package and wrap them for your journey.

Don't believe the hype that they tell you prior to beginning your slowboat journey about the short supply of rooms. You can pre-book a room with "those guys" with half of the amenities for double the price. Just hold off and when you get to Pak Beng Pier, head up the hill and Mr. Tip DetAnong will be there to great you with a warm smile.

We stayed a night, as everyone, while travelling on the slow boat from Huay Xai to LP. We didnt book early but one of us got the bags while the other rushed up to find a room, it is low season apparently at the moment which helped. The room is basic but clean and comfortable for a one night stay, we got the fan room for 75,000kip (approx $9). The owner was very kind and helpful and sorted us out with a lovely take away breakfast and lunch the next day - they run a bakery/cafe across the road also. The guy was so lovely that he ran down with a pancake I'd ordered but mistakenly left behind about 30mins later just before the boat left (how he recognised me amongst all the whites was impressive). We haven't witnessed customer service like this in Laos so we were very touched

I booked my nights stay at Monsovanh in Chiang Khong the day before getting the slow boat to Pakbeng, en route to Luang Prabang. I chose to stay here after reading the reviews on TripAdvisor.
I paid 500BHT for a twin room with fan, ensuite bathroom & hot shower.
They also have wifi, connection is strongest in the cafe.
The guesthouse was clean, the beds comfy with lightweight duvets - it can get chilly at night here - and the owners friendly and helpful.
They have a cafe & bakery opposite which opens at 6 am so you can get breakfast and sandwiches and still have plenty of time to get a good seat on the boat.
I think it is slightly cheaper to take your chances & find a room on arrival but I was glad to know that after a 6hour boat ride there would be a decent room & hot shower waiting for me!
The exchange rate offere by the Guesthouse Owners for Baht to Kip was also very favourable.
Highly recommended.

In Pak Beng there isn't a huge "quality" choice, but we went here as it was #1 on TA

Helpful owner, room basic but very clean, loo paper, towels, water and soap. Hot shower and clean bathroom. Electricity on all night and assume its now 24x7. 100,000kip paid - not sure if it could be cheaper.

Cafe opposite owned by them for breakfast (even takeaway if on early boat) - and amazingly wifi!

Nothing special, basic, but really better than expected considering Pak Beng is in the middle of nowhere!
