“Pearl in Philippines”

Very shortly - MUST visit once you are in vicinity. Food is just perfect. You would hardly find similar quality in most of restaurants in Europe or US!!

“Tasty and swanky”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 3, 2014

I can see what the chef / patron is trying to do here - create a destination, fine dining establishment. On many levels he gets it just right: the grand entrance, the choices on the menu, the imposing cutlery, the prompt table service. And the food is also mostly spot on. The tasty tuna tatar, essentially sashimi on toast was an unexpected delight. Equally, the mains, beef and tuna steal were great, the accompanying sauces and thinly fired potatoes (almost crisps) were a winner. The fact that as you walk I you can see the chef preparing the food means you know that it is made just for you, and not just waiting around for its eventual destination - a diners stomach. Also, whereas many of the other restaurants display their food in open and less than sanitary conditions (heat and flies do somewhat promote deadly bacteria), here, ingredients are removed from the fridge when needed. The only gripes are tiny ones: the gap between the starter and main was very short, but easily remedied, the waiting staff need only ask the customer if they are ready for their next service; the tuna steak came medium, I would have preferred rare, against the staff can ask the customer for their choice. We were disappointed that when we came the next day, we were too late and service had already finished. All in all, great stuff.

“A nice touch”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 21, 2014

My first night in Moalboal I had a wonderful dinner. It is hard to get fresh vegetables and salads. I was able to get both with my dinner. The owner talked to me personally and made recommendations based on what was available. His menu is small but everything was fresh. The food was delicious and the presentation was amazing. A had one of the best meals I have eaten after 1 1/2 years in the Philippines. I had a salad, a main course, a beer, plus dessert and coffee for $17. I felt is was a great value.

I did go back the second night. The local staff waited on me this time. The food was still good but the presentation was lacking.

Beware if you are a non-smoker. Most places allow smoking so you may end up down wind of several smokers during your meal.

4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 15, 2014

If you look for some local/czech insights there is nice czech owner/chef of the restaurant in Moalboal - chef who worked for Ramsey and famous czech hotels opend a resto with nice view over the see in this small city. He can prepare best steaks there, but is very willing to prepare any food of the chosen ingrediences- even vegetarian.

“Great Chef, perfect food, fine dining at affordable prices in Moalboal”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 31, 2013

As simple as that, if you walk along the street in Moalboal you will not expect that you just found one of the best restaurants in the Philippines. The Czech In is simply a must visit in Moalboal.

Great atmosphere, perfectly fresh served food. Fine dining at affordable prices.
