“Nice to meet you!”
Reviewed August 14, 2013

We booked this resort hotel "on the fly" while travelling in the Philippines. Email communication with the Quo Vadis was a bit troubled as we were struggling to find WiFi spots, but in the end it all worked out - even though we got a "sorry we're full" notice two hours after we had checked in.
The Quo Vadis is beautifully place on top of the rocks with the view over Pescador Island, the Tanon Strait and the impressive mountain ranges of Negros Island in the background. Prcedures at the reception were smooth and we were in our rooms after 10 minutes and ready to explore the area. A little on the downside was the note from the reception that paying by credit card would incur a 5% fee over cash payment. Cash is only available at an ATM in the Pharmacy in MoalBoal.
The rooms were clean and well looked after with fridge and AC and a nice bed, TV and a view of the ocean from the front porch.
We went on a few dives with the attached dive centre, one night dive on the quite dramatic house reef and of course we couldn't miss out on Pescador Island, which has been a protected area for a long time and the amount of under water life is just fabulous. My personal highlight though was the dive at The Sardines. This goes down close to shore but you dive into a quite large swarm of sardines. I could have watched that swarm for hours as it moved around above and below you, reacting in that unique swarm pattern to your every move. Amazing!
We didn't eat in the hotel other than breakfast which was delicious, plenty and freshly made. So we ventured out for dinners to neighbourhood, which has quite a range of different style food on offer.
We travelled through MoalBoal in July and it was quiet and not too crowded. However, judging just by the number of diving schools in the area I can imagine that it gets quite busy out on the reef during high season.
One more on the diving: we saw turtles on every dive, often more than one and you can easily snorkel around the house reef in front of the hotel - including turtles.

Room Tip: We had a Deluxe room with sea view and a bungalow with garden view for the kids. The bungalow was che...

Stayed 4 nights at this resort late May 2013 - Arrived 7am after 21/2 hours of long and WINDING road from Mactan Airport and found the reception still closed (opens at 8am). Had breakfast at the resort restaurant (not great) and overall environment are peaceful and quiet, the restaurant looks out to the 'beach' (not bad, water is clear but lacking in sanding beach).
Finally checked in at 8am and was a little disappointed at the room, we stayed in the 'seaview' room which doesn't have a Tv and my friend (couple) stays in another, a stand alone room 'pool view' which comes with TV. The mattress are thin but acceptable, room equipped with a small fridge and the attached bath looks ancient but the worst is there are ants around and later on found that geckos and houseflies and mosquitos are not lacking too.
The pool is reasonable size for a resort of this size , although clean every day ( scooping up leaves and debris from the water) but not sure if the pump is working as the water seems cloudy.
There's a dive shop together with the reception of this resort which I think most people come for. For us , hoping to relax on a nice beach is definitely disappointing and frankly there's nothing much you can do here. Recommended by the tricycle operator to go to 'the white beach' but that also is not great, sand looks more brown than white and the beach not that long. Met some local Filipinas (rich and very generous) and was invited to join them to scuba diving out as they have rented a small boat which was nice and considered the day well spent.
Food isn't great here except for a Italian restaurant over the other side after 'Chilli Bar' (15mins walk) Luckier there a German restaurant cum bar with a decent pool table behind our resort which we spent most of the time. Food is soso but prices are reasonable and people there friendly,in fact sme items they sell there is cheaper than the small groceries shop down the road.
From what we have gather this is one of the place to come to view the whale sharks but we didn't go as we're wary of the 2 hours road trip to the beach to catch the view.
Overall quite a laid back holiday, prices are on the whole reasonable but activities lacking food could be better and place could be cleaner.
For those who had expected beaches like Boracay or Koh Samui you be disappointed and shopping is non existence here.

Room Tip: Choose room with pool view if you needs a TV, bring torch as road are dim at night. Novel and music...

I stayed at this great resort in Feb. with my beautiful girlfriend. We both absolutely loved it there.

The staff was friendly, and the small bar always made me feel at home.

I highly recommend this place! Especially if you want to get your Open Water Certification.

Room Tip: Get a bungalow.

I made the booking via agoda.com 8 weeks in advance for the Bungalow 1 Sea view. When I arrived the lady at the reception intend to give me another room (Bungalow 4) with a extra refrigerator and a DVD player, pretending that this is the same value like the reserved (and already paid) Bungalow 1 Sea view (if you check the homepage of the hotel you’ll find a resort map showing that the Bungalow 1 Sea view is the nicest Bungalow and furthermore the most expensive one). When I insist to get the room that I paid for, she told me the room is still occupied and not available.

I start to have an intense discussion with the lady at the reception, but she was not willing to change anything and pointed only to agoda.com, saying that its agoda’s problem, not the hotel’s problem. I asked her to call her boss and when she left to do so, I start to have a normal and agreeable conversation with another lady at the reception. This lady was very helpful and we found a solution (not the best one but at least..), we got a Sea View Deluxe room, even if this room cost less than the room that we originally booked and paid for.

The room was clean, the location nice and quiet and in a short walking distance to many interesting restaurants and bars along the sea.

Résumé: Nice hotel and good location, but very unprofessional and impolite way to solve a booking problem (the lady that was in charge this day). And honestly, I don’t want to be the one who solve the booking problems between agoda and the hotel.

Room Tip: You better compare your booking from the online booking portal with the hotel portal to make sure th...
