“Heaven on Earth!”
Reviewed October 11, 2010

From the moment I arrived to the second I left this resort was a truly fantastic experience. A driver came to the airport to pick us up to begin our 2 1/2h drive to the resort. We were welcomed with delicious drink and all the staff immediately learned our names. The owner personally drove us to the airport on our departure day. He kindly dropped us off at the mall, and picked us up a few hours later so we wouldn't ahve to kill the time at the airport. What service!

The restaurant served family style meals all sitting around a large table. Most nights, Fay and Chris sat with us as well. Since we were literally the only guests at the resort we didn't have a choice of food.... they just brought out plates of meat, veggies, rice, salad etc; and mainly Thai/Philippino/Asian dishes. We never went hungry. From some of the other reviews I assume that there is normally a menu you can order off of and a weekly buffet dinner with entertainment. Albert, our waiter everday in the restaurant not only learned our names but knew what we liked with our meals (tea in the morning instead of coffee, etc.).

We were mainly here to scuba dive and the house reef did not disapppoint. The dive staff was knowledgeable, helpful and attentive. Robin our Divemaster had an eagle eye on the reef and could spot anything! The DM accompanied us for every dive, including 2 daily boat dives to various points around Moalboal and any night dives we wanted to do.

Everything was clean and well kept including the rooms, pool, games room and restaurant. You could every enjoy massages by the pool if you chose. They were next to nothing (900 pesos) for an hour full body massage.

I would happily reccomend this resort to anybody and everybody and hope to return someday :) :) :)

From the welcoming drink to the minute we left this was the most welcoming and relaxing experience of our lives. Fay and Chris {the owners} go above and beyond to make your stay a most relaxing enjoyable holiday. My husband found the diving exceptional and the whole set up extremely professional. Although I am not a diver the snorkelling just off the beach was the most amazing experience of my life, seeing the turtles so close up was phenomenal. The pool is spotlessly clean, the rooms are immaculate and freshly decorated and the staff most pleasant. The restaurant serves a small but fresh and beautifully presented menu overseen by the owner Fay and we loved the idea of sitting around large tables with different people every night. The two waiters, Albert and Reghan are attentive and professional. We will be returning in the near future.

Who knew there was such a place!!! So spectacular and heavenly as this resort. The weather and the clear water were Amazing!!! You could not help but smile while sipping a sangria by the the gorgeous pool or watching the sunset as high tide set in. Our room had great air conditioning w/nice ceiling fan to boot. Fresh towels, maid service, laundry and fully stocked refrigerator/snack are provided daily. Bathrooms were simple and very clean with liquid soap and shampoo in the large shower (but no tubs). There are no blow dryers so be sure to bring a proper adapter, if your in need. The daily massages were great and cost next to nothing. Regan and Arthur work at the restaurant and ensured each morning breakfast was your choice of eggs, bacon, toast, pancakes, fresh fruit (mango, pineapple, banana, etc) were served with my daily espresso. A fantastic buffet style was served daily for lunch around noon and dinner about 7pm, yet a la cart was also available. The dive resort is a little bit of a drive from the airport of Cebu, yet well worth the 2 hour, so keep that in mind when scheduling your arrival. The staff has one goal....You. We were greeted upon arrival by John at reservations and Chris and Fe the owners. We stayed in villa 22 and it was Beautiful. It had upscale furniture and spacious enough to have an additional bed brought in for our son. Our villa patio had a beautiful view of the the ocean that includes two really nice wicker lounge chairs (cushioned) with a mahogany sitting area to browse the internet on our laptop while enjoying a beer. The Dive shop was right next door, so it was perfect to coordinate our dive schedule for morning, afternoon or night dives. The dive and snorkeling were always eventful and given I had no gear, the the dive shop made sure I was set to go. I didn't even have to wait to put my head in the water before I saw all the colorful sea life and blue starfish as I was walking into the warm water. My favorite was the giant sea turtles swimming around us, it was fantastic!!! The coral was so colorful it was mesmerizing, so so much to see, time flew buy. We Loved this place and can't wait to go back real soon. I promise you....YOU will love this place...I never expected to be so pleasantly surprised as I was.

We spent 2 weeks at the resort with our 10 year old. We all took diving lessons and instruction was a perfect balance of moving you along but not pushing too hard. In the end, our son had a great time even though he ended up not quite being ready for ocean diving.

The rooms are furnished with really high quality furniture and are very comfortable - this is not a typical dive resort with just the basics. Its a great balance that gives one much of what a $500 a night resort would provide but at fraction of the cost.

We were fortunate to be there over Christmas and New Years and the resort went all out on both nights. NYE with fireworks on the beach is tough to beat.

About Moalboal:
I would recommend this place for divers only. There is no beach at the hotel and only 2 beaches in the area which are not very nice compared to the region (we have better beach in HK!!). We chose to diver here because it is very convenient to reach this place (direct flight from HK + 2.5hours drive by taxi for $110 return). The "tuk tuk" you might use to go to the village (for bars/restaurants) is a complete rip off. Even though I am happy to pay tourist prices, I'm not willing to pay twice the price of a taxi ride in HK. Either negotiate hard (and simulate to walk away) or rent a motorbike at the hotel (PHP400 a day).

About the hotel:
You only get what you pay for so dont expect luxury. The room & bathroom are basic & small but very clean. The swilling pool is however very nice. Food is only average (and was a big deception based on the other reviews and the price paid...).

The hotel has been built in 2006.

staff:
All staff members are really wonderful. We really felt at home.

Weren't really sure what to expect not having been to the Philippines before but were REALLY happy with our choice. Fe and Chis were lovely and very accomodating. The food that was prepared was delicious and there was a really good variety on offer. There is a great pool in the resort and the gardens are lovely to stroll around. All in all it was a really pleasant stay and we would definitely recommend it to anyone that wants a relaxing break. The only thing to be careful of though is to make sure that you take enough cash with you as there are no ATMs in Moalboal and the resort does not take credit card. You can use Payal but there is a 4% fee associated with this.

My husband and I spent only 3 days and felt so sad leaving it so soon.
After a 2 ½ hour trip from the airport, which we found in the beginning to be to far to reach, we were warmly received by the owner Chris & Fe.
Our mood changed in an instant seeing the beautiful vegetation going towards our Bungalow and opening our room even exceeded all our expectations. It was very tastefully arranged with a sparkling clean bathroom. The bed is maybe for some people a bit firm, but for my self just perfect after having had traveled for some time.
Then lunch was waiting for us and to our surprise it was taken on a big table with all guests sitting around. It was just like walking into somebody’s living and dinning room. And again, what a master Fe is in going into the small details and color combination in her décor. I couldn’t have done it better 
The food served over the three days was excellent and nicely balanced. You could choose from Fish, Veggies, Meat, Rice or Noodles & desert.
Diving was great and the dive-shop was well equipped and clean. I would recommend just bring your basic’s. Everything else can be rented and definitely all new and in good conditions.
All in all, it was a fantastic time spent in this resort and getting to know each family member and guests while having interesting and full of laughter conversations during meals and just popping into each other. We are definitely coming back and for a longer stay.
Good luck to the White Family and warm wishes.
