“beautiful secluded resort - a piece of paradise”
Reviewed February 16, 2013

It was my first time at Turtle Bay. On arrival you are greeted by many smiling faces and surrounded by beautiful gardens, pool, spa and peace and quiet. A wonderful place to unwind. You cant help but relax here. The staff are very helpful and suggested many things to do around MaolBoal. I highly recommend Onsloe diving with the whales a once in a lifetime experience. I went snorkelling and found this probably the best way to see them. There are also waterfalls nearby but ran out of time as spent too much time in the water. Went snorkelling every afternoon out the front of the resort and saw something different everytime-many varieties of fish and of course turtles. I didnt dive however a group that was staying there at the same time went 3 times a day for about 10 days, they always said what a great time they had and saw many beautiful things. I recommend a package deal as you get unlimited water refills and a fresh variety of international meals everyday. Wish the owner would write a cook book as would love to have brought home a few receipies. Anyway i highly recommend this resort if you are looking for a friendly, clean and relaxing stay.

Room Tip: highly recommend the seaview. king size bed, huge room and the closest to the ocean

We booked this resort based on its good reviews and we weren't disappointed. I loved the remote location of this resort - about 1 mile away from Moalboal town. The staff were super friendly and helpful which created a really relaxed atmosphere. There was a large variety of food but the Asian dishes were by far the best and the staff helped to reduce any waiting for food by encouraging us to order in advance. The room and bathroom were spacious and the bed was extremely comfortable. Both were cleaned daily. The dive staff were excellent, accommodating our different requests and the diving was an absolute highlight!

Room Tip: It's well worth booking a room with an ocean view

Recently stayed at this resort and initially were very happy, the resort is lovely, location good and room ok. The rooms are basic, just a bed and bare nescessirties, no tv etc... But that was fine as we were there to relax. The problems arrised when asking staff for something and with the food.

The food at the hotel was always late, even when we preordered it. on the first day we ordered soup, I had chicken and my partner beef noodle. The beef noodle was ok, but mine was just packet soup with hot water, not stirred properly so lumpy and tasted of just cornflower. We had to prompt for bread even tho it stated it came with bread. Breakfast was laid out, not kept cool or hot, so scrambled egg was cold and full of flies, And fruit was dry and always needed replenishing. This seemed very diff for the staff to manage and when you asked for more mango or whatever it seemed a chore for them. Tea and coffee always arrived after the meal, too late and as you were about to leave. Other guests felt the same way and we were advised by many to eat at the magic island resort next door. On valentines day I asked if the was a special menu, and was told yes, it was in fact the same menu, no diff, and nothing special.

Drinks were again a difficulty, they have a coctail menu and when you inquire what cocktails are on offer, we were told gin and tonic or rum and coke, not the usual. I had to explain what vodka with tonic water was, such a shame. I also caught the bartender putting orange in my lime and soda, he explained its orange in the Philippines didn't I knowing that! Such a fibber. This chap was the same on several occasions, we ordered beef soup from him, plain noodle came, when I said its the wrong order I was told it was beef noodle, could I not see. Well I may be blonde but come on.... After a while it was rectified by the owner but this was after being told I ordered wrong as well.

There is no help, or guidance from reception, we needed transport to the south and was told it would be p4000, we'd only paid p2000 to get all the way to turtle bay from Cebu airport! If you are travelling to bato, south of island def get the bus, only p140 for two people, this we had to find out ourselves.

On a positive the reefs great, we only went snorkelling but it was fantastic, even swam with two turtles.

All in all, not a teribble stay but not luxury! And there are probably better resorts with the same diving experiences that have better food and service.

Nearby panagsama beach has great restaurants, and would recommend chili bar and the restaurant opposite that served Thai and Indian food. Also the Italian was excellent.

We traveled as a group of divers. The territory of the hotel is quiet clean and beautiful. The main disadvantage of this place is staff. Very slow and unqualified. Terrible food, untasty buffet dinner, very poor breakfast, unwashed papaya at the breakfast. The personnel tried to persuade that the juice from the can is fresh mango juice. Mojito cocktail is made of tequila and cola. This is our third resort in the Philippines during this trip, but the worst service. However, the diving is excellent.

Lovely and quite and out of the way, nevertheless only a 10 minute ride into Moalboal town. Bungalow was nice and comfortable with large bed and bathroom, air conditioning, ceiling fan, small fridge, kettle with tea/coffee/sugar/creamer. Nice veranda overlooking the garden with views out to sea. The room and veranda were cleaned every day. We had one small problem in the room which was dealt with quickly and efficiently. Food was excellent - we were on full board basis and had buffet at breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food on offer was different every day and the staff were very friendly, corteous and efficient. Dive staff were also very friendly, knowledgable and well trained, and the boats were comfortable and well maintained. I am a photographer and the guides went out of their way to find macro subjects for me. Would not hesitate to recommend to friends.

I stayed at this hotel during a diving trip with friends and I enjoyed the experience. Staff was courteous and helpful, our bungalow and bathroom were large and comfortable if simple, with a fridge, free coffee and tea, a small veranda over the well tended garden close to a nice pool. The decoration of the hotel, specially the lounge and bar areas, is really beautiful, made very tastefully with craft objects from Philippines and other far east places.
We were the only guests at the time except for a couple that did not dive, so we had everything for ourselves. In spite of that, when all the group went together to the restaurant for the buffet-style meals, the food often came in too small plates, so it was too quickly depleted. Other than that, the food was good enough, specially soups and dinner deserts that were served at our table.
Dives were nice, specially at Pescador island, but not first class, and 3 diving days seemed largely enough to enjoy the place. Dive staff was very helpful and attentive and made every effort to make our dives as pleasant as possible.
I can't comment on value because this was part of a package trip that included also other places and services.
