“If you are selling a pristine white sand beach experience, perhaps you should clean the beach?”

I went to Cayo Blanco with the Catamaran experience. I was extremely disappointed with the beach. I went on this excursion primarily for the white sand beach and turquoise water but could not believe the amount of seaweed on the beach. It had an acrid odour and it was necessary to "wade" through the seaweed to get to the ocean. This issue is easily remedied with a rake and a bit of man-power. It really detracted from the overall experience. That being said, the food was delicious and plentiful.

Nice island and nice katamaran sail to reach it. Snorkeling during the sail was not so good, because there was not much to see under the water, some fish but nothing special.

Cayo Blanco was nice, but so over loaded with tourist. Some nice cuban rats (hoodia or something ?) under the restaurant and had fun feeding them. Sand is white and water is bright.

Anyhow, nice day on sun and worth of price.

We decided to take a full day tour with catamaran to Cayo Blanco. Really nothing special, bad service, awful food, dirty beaches. Typical tourist trap that will attract anyone with wonderful pictures and promises. Not worth doing it, as beach in Varadero was much nicer.

During our one week stay at the Iberostar Laguna Azul, from Feb 7th to Feb 14th 2014, my wife and I booked through our Sunwing representative this Sunwing excursion. It was on Monday Feb the 10th on the famous sun cruise catamaran excursion with Crucero Del Sol.

An amazing day starting at 8:40 am with a shuttle transfer from our hotel to the marina in Varadero. Boarding the catamaran was quickly done with a short security initiation from the staff.

Midway through the morning we did some coral reef snorkeling with complete gear (gear was included). We brought our own snorkeling gear for that excursion. Later that morning in Rancho Cangrejo we had some interaction with the dolphins. This lasted about one hour. Snacks were included on board and an open bar was available during the whole day which included Crystal beer, soda, rum, whisky, vodka and traditional Cuban cocktails.

At around 1:30 pm we docked at the famous Cayo Blanco Beach to have a wonderful lunch consisting of lobster, shrimps and rice with alcoholic beverage or soda and with some beach time right after to relax and enjoy the white sands.

At 3:00 pm approximately we boarded our catamaran to return to the marina. However before leaving the catamaran, the Captain and his crew with the help of load Cuban music in the background made the entire group a real dancing party with more cocktails flowing. We then arrived at the marina and shuttled back to our hotels. This day has been sunny and warm, the sea was perfect, the music was playing and everybody onboard including the crew really enjoyed themselves.

Clean, white, soft sand. Food and drinks available once you arrive. Washrooms also on site. Small souvenir hut on site, good prices.
