“A little Gem”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 3, 2007

Just returned from this fabulous Hotel. We travelled with our 2 children aged 10 & 6 having booked the deal within 24 hours of travel. What a fantastic holiday we have just had. 2 weeks AI and the food was fantastic as well as the facilities. Staff very friendly and helpful, the hotel/rooms were kept spotless and the pool big enough for all, as well as a baby pool. Sunbeds even available without having to get up at the crack of dawn with towels etc.
There is a beach very close by (5 min walk) but most guests went down to the Jetty accessed from the hotel grounds and swam from there. The sea is sandy bottomed and lovely and warm.
Night time was generally quiet and the animation team did a great job given the limited resource. Drinks plentiful all day and the kids just loved the milk shakes.
Rooms very good and all we would say is to try and get a room with a view. Ours just faced out on to other apartments however the room was still ok.
A great place and no-one should hesitate to go here - its the best AI we have found on the many Greek Islands we have visited!

We stayed the Iberostar Plagos in June 2007 only just got around to doing review. We were aware this hotel is one of the best in Zante, and my main worry was we would be too near Tsilvi, we arrived and had a taxi transfer (unexpected). All the staff were very friendly and efficient. Our room was a pool facing room near the bar area so had views of Kefalonia.

The room was clean and the maid changed the sheets every day, a problem of a leak in the shower head was resolved very quickly, there was enough cupboard space and we were lucky to be able to sit out in the sun in the late afternoon and early evening before dinner on our balcony, the safe was ok, but the door did slam in the late afternoon one day and I had to climb into the balcony to get back in!!.

Most of the guests are 'all inclusive', we were half board so it was a little uncomfortable at first not being sure what we were allowed by way of drinks with the evening meal as we did had armbands on, however this was not a problem as our week progressed, we seemed to fit in ok with everyone else, we did start to get free drinks sometimes, you do in theory have to sign for everything. (I was glad we did go half board as in the heat you only really need water, a pastry and fruit to keep you going in the day and there were 2 shops up the road which sell food and 4 restaurants near by).

The food was very good, a general buffet but with featured foods every night depending on the theme always soup, salads, roast and several types of dishes, good local wine and beer, even sparking wind for breakfast - bucks fizz !!.

Entertainment was limited but we were at the beginning of the season, the team had only just got up to full strength and did a great job with the kids, there was no real entertainment apart from quizzes, kids disco for an hour, and the like apart from the Greek night (Wednesday) when there were dancers in the foyer which were very good.

The small landing stage down the steps was ok for swimming, better with swimming shoes, but 10 minutes walk to Aboula beachfront which was good, here you could change and swim on the sand with 5 bars /restaurants to choose from if needed.

Top tips;- take the bus to Zante bus stop (terminus of service) just outside hotel, best places to eat fish restaurant and Italian restaurant half way down the hill to the beach, go and see the friendly owner at the Oniro studios ( turn right outside hotel , quarter mile) for a drink, swim, film and chat, nice place if this hotel is full and you want to come back, go for a stroll at the cross roads and walk in olive groves in the evening sun, go and see the shipwreck, go on the landrover trip, and do buy nuts honey and local wine from the mountain shop they stop at. Too far from Tsilvi for walking, departure at airport is a bind keep up the fluids and food in the heat, get the Greek Embassy to send you an information pack before going.

All in all a very enjoyable holiday at a very good hotel worth coming back to.
