Stayed at this hotel from the 16th-23rd September, however due to the flight times, did not arrive at the hotel until 7am on the 17th September.

Due to check out the room at 1200hrs on Sunday 23rd September, however the coach would not pick us up until 0300hrs on Monday 24th September. Hotel were unable to advise if we could keep 1 room on, for a group of 11 people to get showered etc, until the morning of departure. €20 to keep it until 6pm and an extra €10 until 7pm or we had to pay to book a room for 24 hours. Whoever you asked, you got a different answer!

The All Inclusive stops at 2300hrs so for 4 hours we could not even get water from the dispenser as the old man on reception refused to provide us with anything. We wanted water or the hot drinks machine to be switched back on, not the buffet to be opened! The rep was useless, she clearly has no power to try and influence the hotel management. The staff working at the hotel in the bars, restaurant and maids were excellent, but the attitude of the management was a disgrace.

The hotel entertainment was shocking... it resembled watching a Britains Got Talent audition that lasts an hour, nobody buzzes them, but they still don't get through to the next round. I overheard one of them saying one night they had been doing their routines since May so they are now just getting into the swing of it... maybe time to think of a different career route!

Don't plan to go back or book with First Choice again.

Room Tip: Don't pay for a sea or pool view as these rooms don't really get the sun. Definately better with a garden view.

Well what can i say a wonderful holiday had by all. We stayed at this hotel for two weeks from 2 September till 16 September and wished we could have stayed longer. The hotel is very modern and spacious. The main reception has several siting areas and lovely views from the terrace. The bar serves drinks till 1pm but only all inclusive till 11pm and not all the drinks are included, so ask before you ask for them. The manager and staff are very helpful and friendly nothing is any trouble. We stopped in a garden view room which was very clean and spacious although it was for disabled guests with a 'high rise toilet' and a wet room shower. The cleaners came in every day, bath towels were changes twice a day and beach towels daily. The pools were lovely clean and resonably warm after the suns shines on them. Sun beds in plenty with several areas to sunbathe including the beach. The sea was lovely but you have to walk over a fell rocks to get to the sand but worth the effort. The food was plentiful well cooked and varied. The waitresses work hard and are very helpful. We enjoy a relaxing time on holiday but took part in the animation programme of the day eith french boules, darts, football, killer pool, aqua zumba and aerobics etc. The Jango team are lovely and work very hard during the day and exceptionally hard each evening to provide a varied programme of entertaining shows, first mini disco for the kids and 10 shows a fortnight. Milli, kirsty, Laura, Alice, Danielle and Emma work very hard singing and dancing caberet shows from Disney to Hot Hits excellent costume changes and vocal arrangements. The Olivia bar is the venue for this which a small stroll away from the main hotel and set outside. We definatly recomed a visit to Tsivali and Tragaki, and Zante town. The bus runs at thr top of the road and taxis cost from 7 to 15 euros depending where you want to go. All in all a lovely holiday destination.

What a lovely hotel the Eleon Grand Spa is. Situated right on the sea front with breathtaking views.Hotel very clean and modern. Food was very good with varied meals for buffet style service. Staff were unbelievablely efficient and friendly.Spa was out of this world. Wife and I had massages to back and facials and just didn't
- want them to finish. Brilliant! Very probably will be going again next year.

Room Tip: Ask for room numbered in low 200's. Close to dining room, main reception, bars and swimming pools.

Sorry First Choice Holidays not worth rating given.

Positives:

> very clean and maid/pool staff excllent
>towells and bedding changes daily
>pool area good
>entertainment staff fantastic given the poor facilities they are expected to work with.

Negatives:
>Mostley eastern european guests-who appear to have very poor social skills/rude and children who cry constantly
>Food OK but repetative-lots of liver (never seen this before)
>Room very basic (they need to get rid of the material headboards as they smell fousty)
>Hotel feels unfinished (very minimalistic no art work etc)
>please do not use the word gym to describe a tiny room with a sorry excuse for equipment)
>Sunbeds around the pool area are hard to get,you will have to be up by 7am to reserve a space
>watch out when you are eating -the staff are trained to whip your plate from you as soon as you finish (sometimes before).
>We had two days of bad weather-TV is only BBC news-flms 6 euro a go.
>Improvement needed in night entertainment area-needs to be covered so it can be used in bad weather-walkway needs to be lit as it is very dark and dangerous-and PLEASE give the staff a safe stage area to work on.

Will not be going back !!!!

Room Tip: Ask for main hotel building with sea view (this will cost more)

We have just returned from the Eleon Grand Resort and Spa after a 10 day holiday and as the title suggests.. it's not quite 5 star! Upon arrival we were pleased to find we had been upgraded to a family room with a private pool, which was a good start. The receptionist was very pleasant / helpful and the 'check in' procedure quick and efficient. I have to say, i'm not quite sure why they have kitchen areas in these rooms, in an all inclusive hotel, but perhaps some people find them useful. Personally i thought the space could have been better utilised.. even if i had young children, and i do have 5 older ones!!, i still don't think that space would have been used. The room was lovely and clean upon arrival and was kept that way throughout, by a very hardworking and dedicated team of cleaners. The small pool was also very clean and was kept this way until a storm on the 8th day filled it with mud and leaves etc from the surrounding garden area! The only real issue i have with the room was there was no mini bar which, considering the distance from the nearest bar area, was quite strange ( one reason it's not 5 star ).. It would have been helpful if the nearest bar, the Olivia bar, had a self serve drinks machine the same as the other 2 bars.. but it didnt, another stange one, especially as this bar didnt open until 7pm!
Onto the food.. in a word.. Excellent. Plenty of variety, freshly cooked, theme nights, lots of cold meats, lots of hot food.. starters, mains, desserts, comfortable surroundings, very good waitress service. The only problem they have is when the weather takes a turn for the worse and then the inside area is nowhere near big enough for the number of people in the hotel and you do have to queue for a table.. The waitresses,as i mentioned before, are very friendly and very helpful and i noticed that all of their names end in A.. just a bit of useless information for you!
The pool areas are all very clean and the sunbeds are very comfortable.. you do have to get up pretty early if you want one of the 'best spots' but there are a number of different areas in which to sunbathe in comfort. As another reviewer pointed out.. some people do 'reserve' their beds very early and then don't use them, which is frustrating and is something which the hotel should do more about. Generally speaking though, you can always get a sunbed and the hotel was apparently full for the period we were there. The beach area is very small and there is not a right lot more that you can say about that!
The bars were well stocked and again the waitress service was very good.. there was a reasonably good selection of cocktails on the all inclusive package and also others which you could 'buy'. There was beer on tap and self service cold drinks in 2 out of the 3 bar areas.
The main reception and lounge areas were again very clean and well maintained as was the area outside the panorama bar.. some lovely views from that area over the pools and out to sea. Perfect for pre dinner drinks!
My only real issue was a pet favourite of mine.. the fitness room!!! It advertises it as a fully equipped gym and fitness room and the picture at the top of the stairs shows it as such... when you did get downstairs.. it was nothing like it!! It looked like a room where they had dumped old fitness equipment.. we had a good look round because we thought it must be elsewhere given the picture at the top of the stairs! I do fully appreciate that it's not everyone's cup of tea.. training on holiday, but we do enjoy that side if it.. it's great to workout in the morning and then instead of having to rush to work.. you can just chill!!. So if you're going to advertise a fully equipped fitness room.. then you really should have one!
Onto the entertainment.. very basic but they work hard to keep the audience entertained. The entertainments area looks like a graveyard for old tables and chairs that are no longer used and the 'stage' is a slab of concrete.. shame really because the lad and the team of girls do give it their all and manage very well with extremely limited facilities. It's very much the same night after night and perhpas the management might want to consider the odd outside act to liven it up a bit!
We hired a quad bike for the day and went to the blue caves and the shipwreck, amongst other things, and had a great day out touring the 'top' half of the island. There are some lovely walks around the hotel and 15 mins in any direction sees you at one or two very nice little tavernas.. about 40 mins sees you into the centre of Tsilivi, which is very lively and very nice. If you don't fancy walking then it's 7 euros in a cab or 1.6 euros on a bus. We caught the bus to Zakynthos on one of the rainy days and it was well worth the trip.. again only 1.6 euros. One note here as we're talking euros.. the hotel do not have a money exchange facility so get your euros before you go or you will have to go into Tsilivi ( there is an exchange facility at a nearby supermarket but the exchange rate is pants! )..
So.. overall, very enjoyable holiday.. 8 out of the 10 days the weather was lovely but even sitting on the porch watching the rain lash down was quite fun!! There are some things the hotel needs to do to improve and to be honest they are not major things.. We did complete a suggestions / comments form so hopefully others will do the same and they may listen.
As always this is just my opinion and others may feel differently.. but that's what this forum is all about.. i use it all the time before we book and so far it's never let me down.
Enjoy!!
