“GREAT LOCATION”
Reviewed September 14, 2012

My husband and myself have just come back from this hotel, we stayed in an apartment and self catered all week. The hotel lobby was very clean on arrival and the reception staff were there whenever you needed them for advice, we arrived at night and was just given directions in broken greek of how to get to our apartment block, the numbering system was non existent and we struggled to find where to go and if it hadnt have been for someone helping us who had been there before then I think we would still be looking. The pool area was very clean and safe, the pool itself was well looked after. We stayed in an apartment at the back looking up to the mountain, stunning. The hotel is located within walking distance to Kos Town if you dont have a bad back which we have to say is the best town we ever been for shops and the night atmosphere is magical and photogenic. Various places to eat near where the bus drops you off in Kos town are really good and the Amaryllis even gave us a gyros meal at night when it was only served at lunchtime nothing was too much trouble. I can also say I had the best fruit salad in one of these cafes for the cheap price of 3.50 euros. Bus fares are cheaper at the booth than on the bus themselves making a difference of between 10 and 30% but from this hotel to Kos Town it cost 3.40 euros for both of us, which we felt was a bargain. Another of our journeys by bus was to Therma, catch the bus up the road on the same side as the hotel. When the bus dropped us off we had a steep walk down an unadopted roadway, very dusty, arrived at the bottom and carried along the beach to the place signposted Therma, this was a total surprise to us as part of the seas edge was bubbling and very hot, I could not sit in it it was too hot for me, my husband managed it but only for a short while and I will say it was very stoney so protective shoes are needed here and for the rest of the beaches we went to in Kos. We went to every restaurant in Psalidi for a meal and was not disappointed by any. There is a cafe between the hotel and the jet oil garage, here is run by Michael and his family, who service an excellent english breakfast for the bargain price of 5 euros each, the best we had. Michael also made us filled baguettes to bring home on the plane and these were 3 euros each and more than beat the airport prices. The pool bar service is slow (he only has a small hotplate to cook on) but the food is good, but more expensive than Michaels next door. I had to visit the doctor next door to the hotel whilst there and be warned £60 is the minimum fee she charges plus if you need anything from the pharmacy there isnt one until nearly into Kos town. There is also no ATM machine in this hotel or surrounding area, only in Kos town and the hotel does not take credit cards or debit cards, we had travelex and had to go to Kos town to draw money out. There are no smoke alarms in the rooms which is frightening as people are allowed to smoke and cook nearby and if a fire did break out then you wouldnt stand a chance. The little drain in the bathroom did smell as the day went on and at night when the toilet was flushed. There is a little chapel on the site which calls in their flock on Saturday and Sunday and has a delightful chime to it. There are also cockerels who have no time scale whatsoever in the field surrounding the hotel, so be prepared to hear them anytime day or night. Cyclists are plentiful here as there is a facility opposite the hotel, but beware some are not fussy and will run into you rather than ring a bell, they can be a hazard and very annoying and the majority do not have lights on at night. The Thomson rep Dave very good and knows the island, however his scales arent correct and when we got to the airport our luggage was over so hence had to pay its 12 euros per kg. He gave a departure meeting which we thought was good as never had this before, he was very approachable. At this departure meeting I went to the reception and asked how long we could keep our room for, we were being picked up at 5.50pm on the day of departure, I was told we could have it until 5pm on that day, which was great for us. When it came to taking the keys back I was told we owed 25 euros for the use of the room, I had already been warned by a few friends we had made before I took back the keys and refused to pay, as they did also. No mention was made of paying anything when I asked. There was no information in writing about this in our room and there were no signs up to say this,
I informed Dave the rep who said that he would speak to the receptionist later.

Room Tip: Bungalows at the front of the hotel and the rooms at the front would get traffic noise. We stayed i...

Just returned after a very relaxing holiday at the Niredes. Couldn't fault it, it had a great location with a couple of top tavernas within a five minute walk, our favorite was Nestorias, the best beef stiffado I've ever had. Our room was cleaned every day and new towels every other day. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. We used the private beach over the road, you could always get a sun lounger and the view over to Turkey is amazing. It's only a 20 minute walk into Kos or 5 minutes on the bus

Stayed at the Niriides for a week at the end of August with my wife. Didn't get to hotel till early hours of the morning but there was no problem checking in and they even had the bar open still so that we could get a drink.

Stayed in a studio room which was quite basic but impeccably clean and the maids were round every day to clean. Air Con is a must have at 4 euros a day.

Pool area is great and that is no doubt down to the 2 people running the pool bar Kiril and (I can't remember the girls name unfortunately) do a fantastic job there and are friendly and go out of their way to ensure that you enjoy your time by the pool. No problem getting a sunbed in the sun or shade at any time of the day which is good.

The hotel bar has big screen tv's and shows sky sports which was good, drinks reasonably priced for holiday at 3.50 euro for a large beer and 5e for cocktails.

The hotel has a beach bit but unfortunately it is on a pebble beach (that my wife doesn't like) so we only went there the once, not the hotels fault as I noticed all the beaches down that way were the same.

Greek night at the hotel was a bargain for 10euro (I was full just after the starter buffet)

It's about a 20-30 minute walk into kos town but if your fit enough it's well worth hiring a bike which is 5euro for the day and ride into town or its 1.20 on the bus in and they run until 2am.

For the price we paid for the hotel it was value for money and if I was ever going back to Kos I would not hesitate to book this hotel.

What can i say... A fantastic hotel with fantastic staff!!! We got a fantastic deal on this hotel on a last minute deal and was fantastic value for money. It's a basic hotel with basic facilities so if your looking for 5 star then look else where!!! It's very clean and the service is above and beyond. The pool and pool area are very well maintained and the snack bar is very good value for money. The sports facilities are also very basic but completely safely useable. The beach is a pebble beach, not for me as I don't like the sea but nice for those who do. Mega supermarket down the road can provide all the necessities if your self catering (the supermarket staff/owners are a little grumpy but it adds to the charm) Very close to Kos Town with bike hire readily available and a very frequent reliable bus service costing only €1.10. AMAZING HOLIDAY, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED AND WILL BE VISITING AGAIN!!!

Just arrived back back this fantastic hotel, we travelled with my brother and his wife and had studio apartments (self catering) next to each other at the rear of the hotel overlooking their vegetable garden and the mountains. The rooms were cleaned daily and regular towel and bedding changes. The staff were always on hand to help with any questions and any minor problems resolved immediately. Irania in the Cocktail bar was so friendly the evenings just flew by. We had the best of both worlds as Kos Town was only a 5 minute bus ride away, with the buses running until 2am. 4 euros a day for air conditioning (which you needed as temperatures at the end of August in the 40's). Would thoroughly recommend this hotel.

We stayed a week in two studio rooms as a family of 4. Rooms both well equipped AC was an extra €4 per room, and in August it was needed. The rooms were cleaned daily, towels changed every other day. Bathrooms had showers only and were tired as was the kitchen section. But not an issue for us. Plenty of hangers in wardrobe! Our rooms were ground level overlooking the back, which was quiet. Greek night was great food excellent and traditional entertainment €10 per head.
Pool area great, never a problem getting beds. Good pool bar serving snacks and light meals. The steps down from the pool area were slippery when wet and a few falls happened during our stay. There are warnings stating this but I think maybe more could be done to make it safe. The beach is across the road, beds are free of charge, course shingle and a mix of sea urchins kept us by the pool. There are a few tavernas across the road on the beach front, all excellent . The bus stops opposite the hotel to go into Kos town, we didn't use it we paid €7 for a taxi. Lots of bars and restaurants in Kos town plenty of nice shops. Trips to turkey go every day from the harbour lots of other trips too. I liked the fact that the bars and restaurants are owned and run by Greeks, with traditional food always an option, not egg and chips or cooked breakfasts served by British people in British owned bars. A great place, will definitely go back in fact looking to book for next year. The hotel bar is run by a great guy who doubles as the receptionist by night, who brought us shots and free drinks, always smiling, sorry cant remember his name. Great family hotel.

This hotel was absolutley lovely. Should be a 4*. We had a lovely sea facing room it was cleaned everyday and the maid even put sweets in the room and made decorations on the bed with napkins. The only down side was the shower was very tiny and you had to pay 5 euros a day for the air con. The staff were very pleasant. The cocktails at the bar were also very nice. Its a great location and the beach was beautiful. Kos town is not very far either on the bus its about 2 euros for a return, I would reccomend going to Paradise Beach for water sports it was very good. Would reccomend and would go back.

Room Tip: Choose a sea view room as the rooms facing in land get very hot.
